January and February see the start of non metro Saturday meetings. Reading between the lines of this week's financial support statement from RWWA for Bunbury, Pinjarra and Ascot, this seems like the way of the future.

So how does everyone feel about Racing moving into the Southerly corridor ? The Jan / Feb meetings have been well supported when they were featured days, but I wonder how they will hold up on just ordinary fixtures that have been relocated.

Damian Lane for me @glamour almost certain to ride Gatting I'd think.
Still got a hunch he'll run favourite with a good barrier draw.
He's the genuine Group 2 horse in the race, who has been placed in Group 1's.

Am sure everybody knows another horse in the race who's been placed at Group One level and he's 100/1!

All im a bit sceptical about him,59kg and he has had some hard runs in top company, chasing home Arcadia Dream and Galaxy Star.

It's not cut and dried that's for sure, although Gatting is one of the major players no doubt.

Star Exhibit can recall was placed in a Doomben Cup, pretty sure that's a Group One race.

So three horses in the race have been placed at Group One level.
    Gatting - Railway Stakes.
    Star Exhibit - Doomben Cup.
    Dark Musket - Kingston Town.

Think it will be a good thing for the horses and the people....I just hope they keep the Saturday Prize-money for any meets that are down there on Saturdays...

With the onset of the new market Gatting commenced the day as favourite on Tabtouch, he was then overtaken by Mississippi Delta who in turn has been usurped by Action.

Now if you include Galaxy Star in the mix - that's four different favourites within 24 hours!

Khartoum has been taken out again, so 99% sure he's not coming. It's been a strange ole market assessing race.

    And not just the favourites...Prize Catch went from $21 to $9 to $17. That's a swing. He's just $11 on Bet365.

Khartoum went from oblivion to $11 and then banished again. Perfect Jewel a bit shakey in the betting, whereas The Big Show continues to firm.

Dosent appear to be much support for Elegant Blast or Star Exhibit but the way this market has gone, nothing will surprise.

Anyway Merry Christmas everybody and will be back for more Perth Cup discussion next week!

this cup is a joke...sort of like a Abbott and Costello farce. I said a month ago it would be just like a bloody classless middle distant race they plonk on every second Saturday.
it will be lucky to have listed status next year. by golly they've pharqued perth racing..its stuffed. the masters will be on shaky ground...$3mio in 3 weeks..dream on. those jap brewers are no dills.

If Willie is on Action in the Cup you'd have to imagine he'd be on it in the ATA this weekend

Wonder if British Bessy is nominated. Turner probably thinks it wouldn't matter how far back he is and how pretty a ride he gives it, he only needs a clear run for 100m to be half a chance

handicaps will go out the window with the cup...jarrad at 53kg  :))
I noticed today troy turner got permission to ride .5kj over at 55kj.
there will be a few at 53kg.....the rest upward to 54.5 - 55.00....unless they corrall every rider under 53kg in oz..ie 14 of them to hike it over here...

If thats the case Instead of giving away 6kg Gatting will only have to give away 4 to 5kg.how many WA jockeys can actually ride at 53.?
  • thefalconthefalcon    20,495 posts

IDK but I'll have kittens if Cappo wins the PC; was on him for a good win last start and have been put off by the generous pricing Squid!
We will know a lot more after the ATA on Sat

Action 1.85 in the ATA and 4.5 in the PC.
Either Action is ready for both or........the difference in price means that Gatting will win the PC!

fellow punters and PTTers…..this is the worse cup I have ever seen. the market is in turmoil, the weights will be a raffle..some of those on 53kg will carry 1-1.5kg more..unless we recruit 14 dean yendalls.
the winner will come from the 53kg brigade....no risk...so have a buck on 14 horses and you could win a middy..

    Take Gatting out.
And this dead set should be a disgrace to be even a Bunbury or Pinjarra cup field
