    What's your head-to-head market, Diva?

Not sure, but i think i would have Sujet on top based on their last runs.

Northpace nominated for the +72 1400m race also. Would love to know who Kersley thinks is the better horse between Northpace & Ihtsahymn?

You would expect more improvement from Sujet, surely, both fitness wise and experience.  Anyway, would be a brave man to suggest it's a straight up two horse race.

Looking forward to the Aquinita too, I like seeing the 3yo progress through the distances to see who cuts it over a trip and who doesn't...

Diva it was sujets first start ever in a listed race against a good horse who has had how many starts?

I can only assume they think that the horse will improve. The point really is if Petrol Power gets the trip, as he is vulnerable past 1200M and when previously tested, he paddled at the finish. This week he meets Sujet 2kg better than the last meeting and is race fit, if not over the top. If Sujet can't get past him this week, I doubt he ever will.

This is a very weak edition of the Lee Steere Classic, it's Gr 3 status is nothing more than a practical joke.

I think you hit the nail on the head Damien, if Petrol Power over races like it did last time at 1400m, Sujet will have the edge.

Petrol Power jumps from wide comes across and sits on the rump of Sujet, and then puts him to the sword with 200M to go. Nothing else in this field will be able to match the cruising speed of either of these two and Sujet is on a hiding to nothing by trying to take on the more experienced horse. There are much easier races for a maiden. Patrick Carbery has been nominated to ride.

I wonder if the punter who had $3300 on Sujet will back up this week? I would also love to know whether the bet was placed before markets were set or the punter asked for a quote?

I'm certainly not saying it's a race in 2, but in terms of comparing Sujet to Petrol Power, P.P gets in a lot better at the weights but he has drawn barrier 7. On the other hand Sujet has drawn barrier 3 which will give Patty Carbery every chance of giving the horse a favourable passage throughout whilst keeping P.P to the outside of him.

So in this scenario it looks to be 1 set all with the deciding set to follow. We can look forward to seeing how it all develops.

How much did they pay for Sujet?

Doesn't Damien own or bred or chose Petrol Power at a yearling sale? I thought someone on here does. I love the horse because of that association.

Sujet had to make two runs in that race and wasn't settled outside the leader, super eighty eight until the halfway mark and yet he's been beaten in the shadows of the post by a horse who had the cold drop on him. The 2kg weight swing is worth a length maybe a length and a half at best.

I purchased Petrol Power on behalf of Sam Trimboli along with his other runner on Saturday, Resetgold (if she gets a start). Petrol Power topped the 2012 Magic Millions Sale at $240,000, so including insurance and GST, he was about $273,000 to get home. To date he has earnt $313,650.

Resetgold on the other hand only cost $22,000 but her return is quite modest at $85,985. Hopefully there is another win for her before she goes to stud next year.

I'm more than happy to list the horses I have purchased in the last four years on behalf of clients. Only had the one glaring dud at this point. If folks are interested.

The Dud being the early runner you stole in Adelaide?

Sam Trimboli owns him, Jimmy Taylor chose him and Damien signed for him and Jason Brown rides him ;)

$273,000 wow, it's an expensive hobby that is for sure. Don't know how the industry can survive when horses are priced like that.

And on top of that it's owned by Sam alone as far as I know. You'd think at a price like that, the horse would be leased out to a syndicate of at least 10 people.

Owner is probably at break even - it was said somewhere before here that training fees are not even a consideration - to burn 20-25k a year does not hurt the pocket.

Play a much different game to me, some like fast boats, some fast cars , some fast women , some racehorses - and some lucky mutha's enjoy all of 'em =)) <:-P

I'm pretty happy with Petrol Power, I own his dam, Diamonds and Dust, with Yarradale. Had a touch of luck as also now own dams of Ithsahym (Umatune also with Yarradale) and Saint Bro (Parole). Before anyone jumps down my throat, yes I know this should be in the breeding section but given credit Damian is taking for PP just taking his lead. I did not breed any of these classy 3 yr olds but lucky enough to secure their dams.

Diamonds and Dust - can't remember but either War Chant or Frost Giant
Umatune - likely retired. Have a couple of quality fillies on the ground. We are keeping the War Chant yearling filly. First time ever we are keeping a yearling and not offering for sale, but this mare is getting old
Parole - Frost Giant, very good cross based on pedigree analysis (or at least what the computer says)
