Carey, you have to be joking that Petrol Power went to another level in this race.he had an easy passage through out the race, and held on only just,to a horse that had won only 1 race in Geraldton. With an uninterrupted passage,Moët Me would have beaten them both, and he was having his 8th and final start this prep.Petrol Power will only win up to 1200m next prep.

things are not always how they appear.
    it's called pace.
    what happened to sujet?
those making ground were beneficiaries of what the leaders did.

even kingston town was nearly rolled by mr mink or whatever its name was.
    sobar was beaten by dayana.
family of man managed to dh once with surround despite being only half as good.
hell, even 'so you think' was rolled in the mackinnon when boss went too hard..
    pace is everything.

despite the closeness of it, which horse won?
run it tomorrow and i suspect the same horse wins again.

anyway pp rated 2.5 lengths faster than the fu run is what i meant, so yes, speed wise it did raise to another level when he needed to.

Not sure, but i think i would have Sujet on top based on their last runs.

Diva it was sujets first start ever in a listed race against a good horse who has had how many starts?

    and whats your point?
I can only assume they think that the horse will improve. The point really is if Petrol Power gets the trip, as he is vulnerable past 1200M and when previously tested, he paddled at the finish. This week he meets Sujet 2kg better than the last meeting and is race fit, if not over the top. If Sujet can't get past him this week, I doubt he ever will.

This is a very weak edition of the Lee Steere Classic, it's Gr 3 status is nothing more than a practical joke.
So which part of the above didn't people understand ? Petrol Power is a 1200M horse with enough class to win, but only just, at 1400M against crap opposition. This is precisely what happened on Saturday.

I don't even believe this race was worthy of Listed status, the field was so ordinary. But that is 3YO Racing this year in Perth over the shorter distances, it's not up to much.

So roll on the Magic Millions over 1200M, he will steam roll them again.

he handled the 1400 just fine.
if he could not run a strong 1400, then he would NOT have won that race, because the pace WAS on and it WAS a true test.
if they had have walked and he just fell in then maybe you could have a lingering doubt about the distance, but they didn't walk and he won.
ask yourself what happened to sujet....he went too hard and it hurt him, yours WON and it was close to strong pace.

if the race was listed standard or not is a different argument altogether.

Carey, So You Think won the Mackinnon and won it brilliantly prior to running 3rd in the Melbourne Cup at his last Australian run before going to Ireland. It was in the Emirates a year earlier as a 3yo when he was slaughtered by Boss who went along at light speed in front and he got gunned down by All American.

the race after his first cox plate is what i was thinking of.
i am at that age now where memories are all i have, and now you're telling me that's gone too! :(

I won't talk about Petrol Power if the noise will stop. I feel bad just photographing the horse because of what people now label as a perceived bias.

The next one is being talked about as even better. I probably didn't buy that one either.

you didn't, breeders still own it, I don't know if it's better but I do know JT thinks it is very very special, but evidently it is a pig of a thing
    Disappointing today.

Wouldn't be reading too much into today's run and definitely not one that I'd rate as disappointing.

Trainer changed tactics with one of his runners later on ( was announced on radio) and subsequently got the choccys.

Was not a leaders day - did well to finish as close as it did  - better than all other leaders bar global flirt.

    The jury is still out
