it's called pace.
what happened to sujet?
those making ground were beneficiaries of what the leaders did.
even kingston town was nearly rolled by mr mink or whatever its name was.
sobar was beaten by dayana.
family of man managed to dh once with surround despite being only half as good.
hell, even 'so you think' was rolled in the mackinnon when boss went too hard..
pace is everything.
despite the closeness of it, which horse won?
run it tomorrow and i suspect the same horse wins again.
anyway pp rated 2.5 lengths faster than the fu run is what i meant, so yes, speed wise it did raise to another level when he needed to.
I don't even believe this race was worthy of Listed status, the field was so ordinary. But that is 3YO Racing this year in Perth over the shorter distances, it's not up to much.
So roll on the Magic Millions over 1200M, he will steam roll them again.
if he could not run a strong 1400, then he would NOT have won that race, because the pace WAS on and it WAS a true test.
if they had have walked and he just fell in then maybe you could have a lingering doubt about the distance, but they didn't walk and he won.
ask yourself what happened to sujet....he went too hard and it hurt him, yours WON and it was close to strong pace.
if the race was listed standard or not is a different argument altogether.

Trainer changed tactics with one of his runners later on ( was announced on radio) and subsequently got the choccys.
Was not a leaders day - did well to finish as close as it did - better than all other leaders bar global flirt.
The jury is still out
