    Ben's been at it again....

your name says it all with this boy...Can someone please step up to the plate and help him as he doesn't appear capable of helping himself anymore

Rio, Ben's had enormous support and help. I'm not sure if people realise just how mentally damaged he is.

I've heard second hand....and have seen this devastation of an individual - in fact several - first hand. And someone holds the key to get him to see the alternatives to what he is currently doing it.. although, I sense he has pretty well ran out of time unfortunately.

my heart goes out to his family.
nss is correct, he has had enormous support, probably more than the average troubled person gets.
he discharged himself from charlies mental health facility...one wonders into whos custoday??
we only read all about this because its Ben...all this is commonplace with meth addicts, happens everyday to some deranged poor bastard..who have families too.
I don't know the solution, prison certainly is an option, imo, but they..Ben and his fellow addicts have had a lot of opportunities for help but they spurn them all.
this foul meth is a universal scourge, its cheap, its plentiful and there seems to be no way to combat it.
Ben thinks himself invincible as he has been molly-coddled and has got away with blue murder as far as his habit goes.
all thanks to "you know who".... X(

Going to wake up to morning news sooner rather than later headlining his permanant demise. The drug destroys minds and his is gone. You just cannot come back from where he is I am afraid.

When is the the CEO going to be held to account for his and the hierarchy actions or inaction over the years how they're still there beggars belief.
The players involved have a thing called personal responsibility as well but the club also had a duty of care and as a longtime member their attitude sickened me and still does.

Some folks are finding this incident today amusing and treating it like it is a game of catch me if you can.

Sadly he will be caught time and time again, until he can't run away from it anymore.

I feel terribly for the family this evening. This is a living hell.

Plenty of criticism of the club on here.

What decision does anyone think the club could have made that would have made a difference to the current situation Ben is in?

Yep its very, very, sad and people wonder why I loathe drugs and the effects they have on society but he made  his bed a very long time ago and no one forced him to do it.

How about not sacking Ken Judge when he warned them about it back in 2001 for starters.
How about doing something about it when they were caught on Police wire tapes ordering drugs during that period and how about not allegedly sending certain club officials, who have a habit of popping up in the coaches box on game day when certain individuals at the club aren't happy with the coach, to allegedly accompany them not to keep them out of trouble but to allegedly ensure their antics and any allegedly subsequent trouble they may allegedly cause doesn't gain media or public scrutiny when they're out and about.

Not doing all that Fast, would have been a bloody good start!!!

The real tragedy in all of this is that he is the father of an innocent young child who will now suffer as result of his father's alleged actions.

Yes if the club had come down on them like a ton of bricks at the time there's a strong likelihood that their path may have changed, Dustin Martin at richmond is a classic example of that, his life was rapidly heading down the wrong path and Richmond intervened and hopefully that young man is now heading in the right direction.
Embley changed his ways and so did quite a few others, as very early in his career he was going down the wrong path not necessarily to the same extent or necessarily involving drugs but he changed because he clearly wanted to and or realised he needed to.
You have to want to change for the better and sadly I don't think Ben and others ever really wanted to and they certainly weren't aided by the club's ridiculous inaction over the years.

Maybe they would have failed Fastmoney but at least if they had tried which they didn't , then they won't have to live with that' though i think Nisbett has no conscience

no, as it will continue to happen on many levels time and time again...Ben is 1 of 70/80 or however many,  that went thru the club at that time......Not all of them, a majority, or even a large minority are in this position
  • AndrewCarterAndrewCarter    2,171 posts
I suppose you don't think Freo's actions saved Michael Walters career and his future either, Michael certainly credits them for doing so, what about Dayle Garlett do you think he would be better off if he had stuck it out with the hawks and not made a conscious decision to flush his life down the toilet, the hawks bent over backward to try to help him and accommodate him but he obviously didn't want to be helped.

    Carey, G. Ablett Snr.

Those who bag the club never mention Worsfold.

You couldn`t get a more respected AFL person, what do the club baggers think of Worsfold`s role?
  • RIORIO    14,902 posts
very hard to compare something from 15-20 years against something in the last year or two...every AFL Club should have the Ben Cousins story presented to them as a training bio on what not to do!!!!
