emphasis on the land.
I understand, not having heard it, that FRK was scathing..they sold bullcreek, Helena vale etc and have nothing to show for it.
I say again, show us the deeds for ascot....
70 Grandstand road ascot :-\"
Harness racing NSW sold Harold Park for 150 million dollars and moved out to Menangle, from a far it looks to be working. The club should look at talking to them and seeing how it has effected their financial position almost 4 years down the track.
Of course that wouldn't have had the ramifications regarding the trainers living and working around the track.
Also have seen the sale of Gloucester Park mentioned a few times, THE HARNESS CLUB own GP, it would be a bit like saying sell Ascot and fix up GP.
Change is inevitable - some ( particularly the Ascot based trainers) probably wont like it - others will embrace it with open arms.
IMHO Ascot is a goat track - far too biased for quality racing. Have always wondered why they haven't built a horse race track there and now realise there is not room.
If they intend on upgrading Belmont AND building an on track training facility somewhere ( Southern corridor was mentioned) then what valid reason is there for keeping Ascot?

Belmont Park is our focus
I'm sorry I don't know how to properly post the radio interview itself on here but if you follow the link you should be able to find the interview.
Go there to listen to more of emperor ted's spin, basically it's not our fault we didn't get enough money up front, gee ted but didn't you do such a genius job on the deal?
You were the one who decided to snub the premier and risk the farm by dealing with a group well known for sitting on assets and not developing them and risking the industry's future on this deal not the industry.
Any chance you will ever admit that you were wrong and not for the first time.

"$80-100M for a new grandstand and we can't justify that, so we are going to refurbish, as there is nothing wrong with the current grandstand and it has ticked all the boxes, so we are going to do that"
"the cost benefit proved to knock it down and re-build would be fool hardy, and the money would be better spent in other areas"
Of course this changed once they confirmed what was known by that small minority, that the grandstand was only fit to be demolished, and that a massive financial shortfall loomed on the horizon.
So in the words of a senior Trainer yesterday at Belmont when discussing this matter, and the suggested sale of Ascot and the unification of Racing in Perth under one roof, he said they were f...... idiots and should be removed from office.
I have had almost every member of the press contact me in the last 48 hours. One in particular felt uncomfortable, but he just came out and said that he was sorry for giving the allegations against me oxygen, and in fact they should have listened to an alternative line of thought. He was embarrassed that he had taken part in trying to denigrate my name in racing circles as he had been convinced by the sheer weight of numbers of the Committee, that I was a ratbag and a blight on racing.
It's going to get very uncomfortable for that Committee in the weeks and months ahead. They have a hell of a lot of explaining to do, and nobody wants to listen to bullshit like in this video when they ask questions from now on.

Tivers, I'll go on record as saying it feel it would be great for the club and could have long term benefits for the industry if handled right..
I could now go on and write a novel explaining why.. But I don't have the patience or time to do it.. And don't want to be arguing about it for the next week..
But refer to the ...."IF HANDLED RIGHT" part of my statement.
