The stewards report noted she was allowed to weigh in with her sponge and rubber which were dislodged after the finish line. Darren also said on air at the time that she had also been allowed to call for the bridle but was still 700 grams light.

I suspect they'll say the rule only applies at prime meetings whereas Wednesday was a provincial meeting with some transferred Saturday races. I agree it makes no sense.

Belmont 39. Perth Airport 40. Moving the Cup meeting to Saturday and the Saturday meeting to another day (midweek if necessary) makes sense. Another 9 am start would be a joke.

Maybe next year Perth Racing/RWWA can think about putting on a City meeting on Boxing Day or between Xmas and New Year.

Maybe. Though the Westspeed day is not a bad days racing. They could have tried moving the Cox to Bunbury on Sunday and run the rest of the Westspeed meeting next Friday. With everyone on holiday and no Ascot meeting on Saturday, a free entry family…

In years gone by we had the Australian Derby and Karakkatta Plate on Boxing Day and the Railway 2 days later. I know things change but we’ve gone from that to not even having a city meeting between Xmas and New Year when everyone is on holiday.
