  • Wow! Is there another side to this story? RWWA has banned him from its retail outlets saying he no longer fits their “risk appetite”. There must be more to it?
  • The Spruiker kas won one race from his last 59 starts
  • Please use fewer words :)
  • Please excuse my ignorance but which bookmaker passed away recently? Lindsay Severn passed in September. He was 74. The club named a race after him in October.
  • Best Perth Cup winner ever saw without doubt 1979 Meliador - freak!! Put previous Melbourne Cup winner Arwon to the sword a few times. Think was something like 3 - 0 Meliador, and Arwon could stay!  The third horse was the Caulfield Cup winner Taksa…
  • From memory Allegation was beaten at 3 to 1 on by Fade in the C B Cox Stakes (now regretfully the Van Heemst) before winning the Cup. The only demonstration I can recall to match or better it was after La Trice (J J Miller) lost the 1970 Railway to …
  • The 1993 Kalgoorlie Cup also carried a $200,000 bonus for winning the Coolgardie, Boulder and Kalgoorlie Cups which Top Villain won before being disqualified after a positive swab.
  • Those returns don't look very much to me considering the size of some of those operations, the overheads and risks they carry.
  • Some of the "watchers" will be members who just haven't logged in.
  • Darren said twice they did call for the bridle and couldn’t make the weight. Whether that occurred I don’t know but Darren was clear that it did. It’s not mentioned in the stewards report. See below at the 1 hr mark: https://aus01.safelinks.protec…
  • The stewards report noted she was allowed to weigh in with her sponge and rubber which were dislodged after the finish line. Darren also said on air at the time that she had also been allowed to call for the bridle but was still 700 grams light.
  • Saturday moved to Bunbury. The only positive from all this is it's reduced the number of meetings at Belmont which is depressing at the best of times. I've enjoyed a couple of trips down to Pinjarra. The track has played fair and it's a far nicer fa…
  • I suspect they'll say the rule only applies at prime meetings whereas Wednesday was a provincial meeting with some transferred Saturday races. I agree it makes no sense.
  • I'm a ditch, I'm a ditch, oh, the ditch is back . . It's the way that I move, the things that I do, oh-oh-ohDitch, ditch, ditch is backDitch, ditch, ditch is backDitch, ditch, ditch is back

  • A couple of the private slot holders have said publicly that its very hard for them to compete with the corporate slot holders when it comes to the deals that are offered to attract the best horses. The corporate slot holders are largely in it for t…

  • Says a lot about the corporate 'bookmakers'. One bloke at Tabtouch goes on leave and no corporate bookmaker anywhere in Australia can frame and put up a market. They're not bookmakers at all - just gutless incompetent parasites who survive by copyin…
  • Brad McManus who sets the early prices for Tabtouch is on leave and it seems they can't find anyone else to do it (I'm not sure how they set the prices on raceday). Worse still the ES corporates including TABVIC, Sportsbet, Ladbrokes etc seem unable…

  • The one thing that's always stuck in my mind is that she won at 50/1 2 runs (possibly even 2 weeks) in a row with the second win being the POW. I also don't recall there being Saturday maidens then and probably wouldn't have started 50/1 in a maiden…
  • My two great memories from Beverley and I attended plenty of meetings there were Muros a future great Perth and Adelaide Cup runner and Belinda's Star who was deliberately hoisted off the track on the corner (would have won by lengths)..I won't nam…

  • 1600 72+ moved to Saturday. Looks like they’re planning to race on Wednesday.
  • Belmont 39. Perth Airport 40. Moving the Cup meeting to Saturday and the Saturday meeting to another day (midweek if necessary) makes sense. Another 9 am start would be a joke.
  • Maybe next year Perth Racing/RWWA can think about putting on a City meeting on Boxing Day or between Xmas and New Year.

  • Yes indeed Spinking. A continuous stream of the absolute best in the land. We’ll obviously never have that again but I don’t think a city meeting between Xmas and New Year is too much to ask.
  • Maybe. Though the Westspeed day is not a bad days racing. They could have tried moving the Cox to Bunbury on Sunday and run the rest of the Westspeed meeting next Friday. With everyone on holiday and no Ascot meeting on Saturday, a free entry family…
  • In years gone by we had the Australian Derby and Karakkatta Plate on Boxing Day and the Railway 2 days later. I know things change but we’ve gone from that to not even having a city meeting between Xmas and New Year when everyone is on holiday.
  • Disappointing. Particularly with no metro meeting next Saturday either.
