The Other Ascot Preview for 16/2/19 by TMP

West Australian Racing
This is a Card with a few shorties and I'm on them!
On a personal note, my back, my knees and my neck and Left shoulder are all a problem with pain now, so I have stopped the sharl oil; maybe it's attacking me thinking I am a seal. I might have to try low voltage electricity instead.

R/1 I have taken th 1.65 on Amelias. the barrier trial was fast for the day and I am hoping there is more improvement now; plus the rider engageument is significant.

R/2 I wil be watching only here.
Most interesting to see 'The Siver Fox' VB won a race the other day; so will be looking at how Geographe Bay goes today..
Oh and Benny has ride on Miss Pins in the SM stable; hoping he can have a winner soon.

R/3 Well, can Speeding Comet come over from out wide? Perhaps not if you listen to some opinions about the rider on the Forum.
I settled on She's Vital. But when I compared the sectional and times with Captain Stirling win at Pinjarra, it was like chalk and cheese.
Still I have stuck because of the way SV surged late and she does have a great barrier draw. I took 7's.

R/4 I cannot understand why this race is not in the 2nd half of the program.
Anyway.I am not a fan of Celestial Dream; due to the drop back in distance.
The logical winner is First Amongst Equals who snatched Defeat from the Jaws of Victory last start.
Of course How can i forget one of my fave Wrinkly. If I lost a shoe at the start of a foot race and they put a different one on?
Gee Boss cannot be left out after a stunning improvement last time; still has 6 Kg off First Amongst Equals and a big riding plus too in my opinion.

R/5 Here is a raffle. i went 2,3,5,11 and 12.
Roses Shadow was a really promising run and I can't leave him out; the rider is v underrated.
Debellatio keeps promising and promising; if DS can find a sit he will be in it.
If Fair Sonari does a Pinjarra thing again?
Harrys is always finding a way to be beaten, but looks so much stronger this time in.
And Dickolettowas such a great win last time in a strong mid-weeker but loses WP. And does Dickoletto mean small d; any it's not the size that counts, it's how you use it.

R/6 I was really impressed by Creative Hero in his maiden; there was something impressive about the way he pulled away effortlessly. So I was on him mid-week when he sat 3 wide and won; I took evens early and happily broke one of my beliefd not to bet mid-wek.
So I have stuck. Does anyone know his relatives that have raced in the Peters camp?

R/7Here's another raffle.
I went 1,3,4 and 5
There is something special about the topweight; his strike rate and his times.
It will be v interesting if The mature Alpha horse can run a 1400m.
Can Neurological step up to strong city class?
Re Publisher was a slashing run last time and a credit to his trainer.
This leaves out Rockon Tommy, Showcase, Mizlecki and Miracle Man!

R/8 Avidus keeps marching on, albeit in slowish times but running v impressively.
The bay mare Crystal Valley is the logical winner (her dam''s name is unpronouncable to me)
Probably have to put in Nordic King becos of the trainer and jockey.
Then there is Beaucount, another gay deceiver, who put in a great run last start.
This leaves out 7,8,11 and 13 all with chances.
Then there is Laufey, who keeps being barked and running into dead ends.

Ok that is it. Lets see what the day brings; a wing on every foot,.

    Nice preview

The shorties for me are Amelia's on Fire and Celebrity Dream, however in the main race a smarter bet might be place River Dance at $2

Roughie of the day for me is Discoville. Pretty keen at massive prices.

Best of the day for me in the last. Media Baron. Ability wise I think it has them covered. Senior jock on helps. While barrier is tough, 14-1800m is perfect for this guy who should only improve out to 2000+. A get on for me

    Good luck

Celebrity Dream is a lay for mine (and others) stating the obvious with it jumping in class and up against a few nice types... Assetro may be the forgotten horse here
