Will be a big day. PR expecting 18,000 out there and hoping for 20,000.
Has been pretty well marketed.

Some early moves. Bombora, now with Simon Miller, $17 into $5.50. Not sure how much money that takes, but its a substantial move.

Knightlike $19 into $10, likewise.

Interesting in the Tatts Cup, someone has made a blue. Victab posted $21 Saint Encosta, into $10. Player posted $3.50 the same horse, now out to $4.60.

Sure is, they've gone on with Knighlike too, best now is $8.
Had absolutely no luck last start, I've put a line through the run.

good luck to Oz Racing and Bruce Saxild's new owners of Bombora. I think its the first horse Ozracing have had with Super simon Miller aswell. They must all be on!

Bombora must have grown another leg  Not for me. Prefer so have small bet on Success Park .
  • Knightlike well under the odds - cant believe its been backed

Obviously Knightlike's a certainty now that Caviar's all but declared it impossible.

would agree, on what it has done it shouldn't even get a run

woops I thought it was in one of the good races

been past 2000m only three times in it's life....all wins.
can see why they took the $19...thats for sure. Williams could train a maingy dog to win at the moment, Turner off, Pike on....plenty of reasons it has been backed.

Already have it. The money for Bombora is worrying, I hope it is misdirected!

Biggest day of the year and very little discussion on the racing?

Here are Hoops tips. If you have no idea, have a read cos this bloke (as well as our own Gumby) has been on fire:

    HOOPSYS ASCOT PREVIEW

RACE 1 ?CROWN LAGER HANDICAP 1400m

No. 1 KEEPERS COURT. A nice early start to kick off Super Saturday, hopefully we can get off to a flyer. Keepers Court has been most impressive in his two runs this preparation for Alan Mathews. His last win was very emphatic; he settled just behind the speed and powered clear over the concluding stages. Although, the margin was accentuated as some of his rivals did meet interference. From his good draw he looks the one to beat. Say Stars was a very impressive debut winner and the barrier cost him any chance at his last start, when he had to be reefed to last and settled at the tail. From barrier 5 he should land much closer to the speed and I think he is the best value in the race. Classic Emblem was ridden a treat by William Pike on debut and he won well. His draw makes it tough but he does have solid claims.
    Numbers ? 1, 9, 5, 8

    RACE 2 ? PURE BLONDE HANDICAP 1100m

No. 6 MORNING MIST. This really does look to be Morning Mist?s race. She is a lightly raced mare, having started on five occasions and posting three wins. Her first up victory in midweek company was nothing more than track work and from her good gate; she should get a lovely run and be too good. Thunderluv?n has done nothing wrong in his short career winning his first three starts and running a game second at his most recent outing. He?ll need some luck from his alley but he should be around the money.
    Numbers 6, 3, 12, 2

    RACE 3 ? CORONA HANDICAP 1400m

No. 7 MASCHINO. This is a really good quality restricted grade event with a couple of very promising gallopers set to clash. I?m an unashamed fan of this hulking four-year-old entire, Maschino. He put it all together last preparation, putting together a brilliant winning hat trick. He resumes from a 10 week let up and has the benefit of a recent trial at Bunbury which he won easily. He is a horse that gets back in running so it?s always heart in the mouth stuff but hopefully he can gobble them up late. Solsay has undeniable winning claims. He should burn over from his outside gate and either lead or sit second. Both scenarios will see him hard to beat. They look the obvious two and I think they?ll dominate this race.
    Numbers 7, 6, 12, 8

    RACE 4 ? $80,000 LISTED - CARBINE CLUB OF WA STAKES 1400m

No. 4 PHILBY. This looks to be a very even race on paper. I think Philby is going well enough to be able to pinch his first listed win. His last start effort in the Lee Steere Stakes was solid and he?ll appreciate the drop in grade and the handicap conditions. Grey Monarch?s last couple of efforts have been in the top class of races and he has run well on both occasions. From barrier 1 he gets all the favours and has solid claims. Bridgestone is a hard horse to catch but if he turns up and brings his best form, I think he will be too good for this field.
    Numbers 4, 2, 5, 1

    RACE 5 ? $80,000 LISTED - TATTERSALL?S CUP 2100m

No. 8 MALAIKA. Wow, what a race this is! You could quite conceivably have half a dozen picks and miss the winner. For that reason I?m going a bit wide with my top pick and selecting Malaika. She has been going tremendously this campaign, storming home at each of her starts over staying trips. Her last start will read 13th of 16th but she had absolutely no luck whatsoever and jogged to the line after not seeing any room in the straight. At nice double figure prices, I think she is worth an each way gamble. Western Jewel had been ticking along beautifully until her last start performance in the Ascot Gold Cup. The track was starting to really cut up that day, so might be wise to forgive that effort. She has a touch of class when on song. There are plenty of winning chances.
    Numbers ? 8, 14, 11, 12

    RACE 6 -$80,000 LISTED ? JUNGLE MIST CLASSIC 1200m

No. 2 ANSWERS ARE. The first of the mares? series races for the summer carnival and as usual it looks like a fairly wide open affair. I?m happy to be on Answers Are, she showed over the winter that she is mare with above average ability and her first up effort, when finishing behind Barakey, was a perfect lead up to this event. From barrier 2 she should get all the favours in running and I think she is the one to beat. Sweet Serenity is an exciting mare who can really unleash a big finish at the end of her races. She has a wonderful fresh record and has the services of Kerrin McEvoy. She?ll be hard to hold out. The undefeated Bontiara has drawn poorly but has a stack of ability. She?ll probably have to be restrained early from her gate which will make it tough, but she should finish strongly.
    Numbers 2, 15, 8, 18

    RACE 7 - $350,000 GROUP II SKY RACING W.A. GUINEAS 1600m

No. 1 RON?S CALL. This is the feature event for the three-year-olds over the summer carnival and I think Ron?s Call looks extremely hard to beat. This gelding has taken all before him this campaign, including a brilliant win in the traditional lead up event, the Fairetha Stakes. Although he got all the favours in running, he powered clear from his rivals in the straight in a most impressive display. From barrier 7, Peter Knuckey can settle him wherever he wants and I think he?ll make it his fifth straight win. Of the rest, Shining Knight and King Saul look the main dangers but I can?t see them being able to turn the tables. The best value runner is First Flight, this is a shape rise in grade but he has ability.
    Numbers ? 1, 4, 2, 8

RACE 8 ? $1,000,000 GROUP I CARLTON DRAUGHT RAILWAY STAKES

No. 11 LUCKYGRAY. On paper it looks like a fairly even edition of the Carlton Draught Railway Stakes for 2011, with most runners coming into the race with some claims. I?m going for the up and coming star, Luckygray. I was really taken with his win in the Asian Beau Stakes when settled at the tail, swept into the race approaching the straight and came clear for a brilliant win and a perfect Railway Stakes trial. The barrier is a concern but if he can get a trail into the race, I think he?ll be hard to hold out. No knock at all on Ranger, he has furnished into a top line galloper this preparation and his win in the Lee Steere Stakes was outstanding. He?s drawn a nice gate and William Pike takes the mount, he?ll be in the finish. The Kiwi, He?s Remarkable, comes into the race with the right credentials, he lumped 59kg at the end of the Flemington Carnival and was able to salute. He gets massive weight relief and should get a sweet run on the fence. He just needs to see some daylight to be a big player. I think the blowout chance is Kincaple, clearly he?d be suited over further but he is a very talented type and I wouldn?t be surprised to see him flashing home late.
    Numbers 11, 3, 9, 10

    RACE 9 ? $500,000 BURSWOOD WINTERBOTTOM STAKES.

No. 11 ORTENSIA. The first year this race has been given Group 1 status and the ?Group 1? horse in the race is Ortensia, with any luck she should win. She saluted in this race two years back when she settled at the rear and came with a breathtaking finishing for Craig Williams. He re-unites with the mare on Saturday and if she can just get some luck from her inside gate, I think she?ll be too good. Peter Snowden comes to town with Rarefied and he has to be respected. His last start second in the Group II Salinger was a top effort. I expect him to settle fairly close to the speed and give plenty in the straight. The best chance of the locals I think is Morant. He?s an enigmatic type of galloper but can really motor home off a strong tempo. Kid Choisir is suited back to 1200m and Paul Harvey has a great affinity with the horse. Werd looks to be the only speed and has to be included for that reason.
    Numbers 11, 7, 10, 5

    RACE 10 ? CARLTON DRAUGHT HANDICAP 1000m

No. 8 LATORIA. We finish the day with a very wide open sprint race. I?m going for the Jim Taylor trained mare, Latoria. She resumes from a spell and has the benefit of a recent trial. She put it all together last preparation, winning four of her seven starts. The barrier draw makes it tough but if she can get some cover in running, I think she is the one to beat. The Entourage has been scratched from the Winterbottom Stakes to be saved for this and he has big claims. He should fire straight to the front and prove the one to catch. Gotham City has a terrific record over 1000m and with William Pike aboard, he should be around the mark. Cavallo Pazzo is a smart type who can really finish powerfully in his races. This is a wide open event to wrap up a massive day?s racing.

Watched the Ascot Bookmaking, or Punta ?? as you say it is now known, on the homepage and I have to say I enjoyed the lack of control of emotions at some of the statements being made about certain runners.

Actually had some honesty about it, which is lacking in previews found elsewhere who are afraid of negative feedback from calling a spade a spade and being grown up about it.
