Just got back from the track and after losing on everything I backed by a 1/2 length or less (2nds and quartet placings) - I decided to bypass the 'get out stakes' and then my best winner of the day flys in, after I've left the track, damn injustice that one!

Marasco the horse (and jock) beat Marasco today! Should have won easily, but that is his life story, Tarzi as usual picks up the pieces and goes on with it!

DV is the real deal, 7-8 light taps on the shoulder in the straight and embarrassed everything else in the field! Bring on SA!

    What a great day

How good was the clash of Henry and Ballroom Crown - both horses gave it there all

But the star of the day there was no doubt - DANTES VOLONTE - what a superstar

I told Chris we had to go move from the bar to watch him in the flesh coz maybe last time we even get the chance - I hope he can fly the flag for WA - superhorse

Love the grandstand jockeys! Probably did more than any one on the mighty Marasco today so I to am intitled to an opinion. Drew barrier 7 of 10, was 1 out one back after 100m, expected Keytomoney to be outside the leader which would have got him well into the straight, instead he ended up having a goat in front of him which is usually a backmarker getting in his way. What do you want him to do? Jump over them? You say go earlier in front of Tarzi first-up, you peak on the run you're a mug, wait for a gap and he wins you're a genius. Which I might add his best wins have been achieved by this style of riding.
When Damian won on him people wanted to string him up at the 100 then when the gaps came they wanted to blow him. How the tide changed. There is a big difference between bad luck and a bad ride. This is the case of bad luck.
I think people should take Marasco for what he is, not what his potential might be. He's a horse that needs to be ridden in a certain way to produce his best and when he does he's a Group 1 horse. When things don't go his way he can look disappointing. They're not all Northerlys.
I wouldn't mind him in my backyard!

DIVA..i told ya the jock was a major issue mate

ill tell y'all one jock who has never butchered marasco.........

    P HARVEY.

you did state that was the big concern.....and your stress was warranted.
You have to question the tactic of riding aggressively from the barriers to race on the pace. This made the Big M over race and then ofcourse the bad luck continued from there. Much prefer him to get back and even wide with cover.
I just hope they dont feel that the blinkers made him over race and take them off next start. I truly believe it was the way he was ridden that made him keen.
Shouldnt have been beaten today.....but thats racing!

in my opinion he wins with ponty or pike or even noske on  therefore it was an average ride....like diva states tho, thats racing and i knew the risk was there...

Marasco has a lot of stories to tell as a racehorse. Today was just another one. He hit the line very well and looked to be hopelessly gone and still almost pinched it.

Well done to the connections of Tarzi, it must feel like winning a lottery when this sort of thing happens.

How about keeping it quiet ? LOL

I looked at the field this evening, he has a good chance of a top 3 finish. I'm told 2 jockeys rang for the ride. Already was going to Shaun after his good ride on Wednesday.

Marleycombe's training stable mate, Old Zero ran a good third today. Gives us a lot of encouragement.

yes i was looking at that race today and thought their form not that different

should go well you would think.

The 7 day backup is the only thing that he hasnt done before. I know he is rising 5 but a lot about this horse is still green. Shaun made comment to that effect on Wednesday.

Me might be an even better proposition after this prep.

Well I selected Tarzi in the poll but backed Marasco on track. Didnt take the exacta which I would have got in the wrong order anyway. I think you would have to go a long way to find a better horse being beaten by misfortune, in the way that Marasco seems to find.

Yes, well done Breaka, you tipped it and it won like a good thing - great horse that just seems to know how to find the line - and take advantage of a very average ride aboard the favourite!

Steward's Report says nothing bar getting blocked in the straight for Marasco, but did he get a check down the back straight, as he seemed to drop atleast 2 lengths when KT$ came up on his outside, anyone see the head on shot down the back straight?

Sorry to hear of yet another horse being galloped on from behind, and subsequently having to retire from racing. This time it is Phorium with several other reporting small abraisions to rear legs.

The boots that my horses wear when in Jade Pateman's care, may not be the cure but tey will go a long way to stopping some of these instances occuring

yes that is not good news..and here i was y'day rabbiting on about a perceived average ride..puts things into perspective

Yes Paul Harvey designed and produced them. I bought a set and my Trainer found them easy to apply. Didn't worry the filly either. Best $200 spend so far in my horse ownership.
