Was dead on its feet at the line. Will not get the journey according to a rival jockey.

I dunno... another 600m is a much different story
Derby will be won by a non-winner or a roughie

running a solid 1800m is alot different to running a solid 2400m! Time will tell with all these horses as the distance increases, but Lou must be getting exciting with his horse, few more strides and would have got up.
Liked the run of Dominico too.

Were you watching the race through the wrong end of a pair of binoculars?

Ran the fastest600m closing sectional of the race and was knocked around by the winner.

Tete i respect your opinion but Phenoms was dead of its feet i reckon if you asked the rival jockey[J Whiting] who said that and offered him the derby ride he couldnt say YES quicker enough ???? Jagsy grabbed hold of it he wasnt slowing down on the line he sat up for the photo ,i agree Almohoud was a terrific derby trial as was Dominicano and Shajezar will be a better horse taking a sit trust me his run was also good the one i reckon that cant win the derby is Liquidation he was of his feet after a good run ,my main hopes are
    Phenoms
    Almouhad
    Domincano
    Shajezar
What is Lindsay Smith thinking with Lovre ???? this horse im lead believe has gone over the top been up for a bloody long time for a first prep Perth Cup start 3/4 deep trip ect etc bugger me he can train Smithy but he can also FLATTEN them

Spoke to one of the owners of Lovre on the way out of the course yesterday (no it wasn't Suma) and he told me they were very disappointed with the run expected a lot more, he did have a virus about 4 weeks ago so not sure if that had any affect but apparently will go to Melvista and if he doesn't run in the first 5 is off for a spell. Lazy was the words used heart rate of 82 when he came back in :?

Well you are right, the comments did come from Jason Whiting. I don't think Liquidation is out of the Derby contention though. Wait and see I guess.

Spent 30 minutes with the camp prior to the race but didn't get to talk to them afterwards. The next run is the critical run, if shades were used then take them off for the Derby ? Or leave them off and then on for the Derby ? Darryn has a very good understanding of this horse, he is in good hands, I would'nt be worried at this point if I was one of the part owners.

Well i have to say i disagree with the thoughts that Phen was struggling on the line  won EASY to my eye on replay?
Almohad was a good run,a little bit of bad luck perhaps on the turn and finished off well.Bit of magic needed for the other 2 to beat 1st/4th with similar runs in future imo.
  • TheDivaTheDiva    13,248 posts
Maybe I am sticking my neck out again, but Phenon looks to me to be a very good 1600M horse that given the right conditions can run a solid 1800M. The placegetters all looked to be going forward towards the 2200M Race and the Derby following.
  • MightAndPowerMightAndPower    4,148 posts
yes you could be right too,400 to 600m more could well blunt him...or it may be that he settles well again over the 22 and does something quite similar?? on what ive seen there though at 18 i would back phen and or almohad..
