Pretty hard to defend that call.

Tom Percy KC, has written a scathing post on Facebook in the wake of the fall in the Perth Cup and what followed. He didn't like drive by of the horse ambulance, the final race going ahead, he hated the band playing and people dancing in the mounting yard

Racing is copping a caning in the wake of this and the two most recent events being a TRG raid resulting in drug charges and a track rider passing away on Christmas Day.

Some have expressed this being the final straw in a sport that is becoming less palatable and poorly managed by the principal club and RWWA. It appears that sweeping it under the carpet is no longer an effective way of controlling the dialogue.

Rwwa’s idea of “racing administration” is organising fashions on the fields contests in the country.

I have nfi what else they do.

Not sure what else RWWA or the club was supposed to do. Shutting a meeting down after a horse is lost won’t improve things. Sadly there will always be falls and fatalities in racing. Yesterday’s was magnified because of the circumstances.

Did he expect them to cancel the whole day and send everyone home?

Very old school thinking. When two AFL players smash heads and go off on a stretcher KO, should we call the game off?

It was an accident. It happens. Many animals are killed in accidents. A miniscule % of those deaths are in horse racing.

Joey pleads guilty, gets 6 weeks for the Cup fall

Damien said TPercy on farcebook hated the band playing. That’s most probably because it wasn’t his band playing that’s due to the fact that there not that good

FFS it was a horse that died, jocks walked away. Sad for the connections but they will get over it and buy another next month, horses get hurt and never race again, it  called Thats Racing.
6 weeks is a fair penalty IMO

Silly question but is Tom now a KC because of her majesty's passing or has he been promoted?

Exactly right - its terribly unfortunate it happened in a Perth Cup

But these things can happen - i can remember the mighty Imagele hitting the deck with K Langby when an odds on favourite in the Golden Slipper in the 70s - and i can also remember - same era an Inter Domininion final at Gloucester  Park - which the Bathurst Bulldog - Hondo Grattan won - and only 4 horses finished the race - the rest fell - or lost their drivers

But back then - there wasnt  howls  of protests or calls to close down racing - because back then - the world wasnt full of Extremists and Nutters

Surely he has to get suspended for causing interference to Trap For Fools in the Cup yesterday... showed zero fecks and Brad Rawiller copped it big time. The kid got suspended in the Melbourne Cup and fined $20k, clearly didn't learn from that (or simply doesn't care).
If this gets overlooked, the stewards are absolutely kidding themselves.

Yes he presented very well there and important to get that message out to the general public rather than just going on tab radio and talking to those that already understand
