Geez the longer i keep looking at the race makes me think the mighty M has to be in the first 3 ,dont worry punters about 60kg because nearly every bloody start he has back hear he carries 60kg and beats horses carrying 53kgs and he wont use him up from gate 3 if he sits of a hot speed then he is a huge chance Megatic will tramp wide drawn out there and Ponty doesnt seem to mind sitting 3/4 deep on them these days so he might cop 2nd up blues you never can tell ???A very interesting race if they dont beat Marsco now then they never will ,isnt that right HOT JULES -lol lol -All of the above is IMO-

LOL...your a classic mate :wink: he's not out of it,could be vulnerable 1st up but he is quality,megatic hasnt met one like or near his ilk at 1400m as well...wins the odd race with 60 dont he dungy..cracking race..BRING IT ON 8)

Isn't it great to have a quality race to talk about, right wrong or indifferant ? A far cry from the rubbish that has been served up in recent weeks on Saturdays.

The Birthday Stakes I'm told, was a wonderful betting race for the bookies, I think this years Northerly will again be a strong betting race with so many horses in at the weights against Marasco.

well we were discussing this very issue recently.

topweight in stakes races gets 60kg tops, so that's marasco taken care of.
next there is 14 points difference in ratings between marasco and megatic... so megatic gets 53 which equates to the 14 points difference, and so is NOT in light relative to marasco, but both marasco and megatic ARE in light relative to all the other entries.
they(marasco and megatic) are only 2 horses in the race that carry their correct weights if you assume the ratings are correct(which they're not, but that's another topic).
everything else is carrying too much.
marasco can just stay in wa and win forever and never get more than 60kg because of local rule.
this race is scaled 8kg stronger so if it keeps winning then handicapper just keeps scaling races stronger and marasco keeps meeting opposition on more and more favourable weight conditions because all opponents are stuck on minimum, while relative to marasco they need much less..
why don't they just stop the farce and make the bloody races wfa and be done with it.
imo they should just scrap handicapping because it's a joke anyway.
2yo's are now swp events in wa with no handicaps last season and i assume same this season.
may as well do same for everything and stop the pretence.

oh hell i'm supposed to be holidaying too.

was actually thinking of naval seal when made that last stupid comment of mine, and would never purposely put anybody down, unless it was self defence! :D
why i was thinking of naval seal was that not only can horses be dudded, but that they can receive awesome favours too.

do think punters need to understand how handicapping works(and owners and trainers too)....punters for the opportunities presented....connections for that and other obvious reasons.

i can only imagine the feeling you had last week mighty one....and good on you too.
still if you had told me it was unbeatable, i would have taken no notice anyway, i was just being mischievous.
and connections are notoriously crappy judges anyway :lol:
if i knew it was fit and well, then i already had a pretty good idea of what was going to happen.

Do agree.

I havent done the form properly but I snapped up that $6.50 Classy Nugget earlier today. Can see it getting a beautiful run on the speed - wont need much luck to be going one better than last time.

Classy Nugget nearing end of Prep so not for mine i couldnt agree with M+P more every time the MIGHTY M carries weight he wins ,he carried 7/8kg more than Uni Ruler in the Easter stakes 1st up 4 deep [the winner got the gun run and Marasco got within 2L of that mob with the EASIEST of runs from gate 3 with the states Best Jock on he wont no he has 60kg were is Megatic will be wide i reckon Beat The Storm has to be in the first 3 on his last run even though he got all the favours .
