    very interesting...Will he run or not?

    So is this it for the local attack on the Railway? Any others in the pipeline destined to target the Railway?

    Where is UR? Where are the Scenic firepower's?

    Betcha Albie Beckett is happy Fred has nominated Marasco. Megatic gets in on the limit instead of carrying 58kg. If Marasco is now scratched will the whole field have to carry 58kg as there needs to be a set top weight.

    no problem for Fred and Marasco, but other trainers may be stuck with senior jocks not able to ride 53kgs, depending upon final acceptance numbers.

    M+P ,can your old mate THE MIGHTY M win with 60kg first up over 1400m ??? and if Ponty sticks with Megatic who then rides Marasco ???? i dont reckon he could beat Megatic giving him 7kgs IMO-but he might not start anyway but FRK is running out of options with Marasco because of the 116 rating ,does he stick to sprints or press onto the Railway and what weight would he get in the Railway ?? i find it hard to fathom that a horse thats never won a GR-1 gets lumped with those weights ?? Megatic won a gr-1 and a GR-2 and can get in with 53kg ?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

    also agree marasco is better than megatic but 7 kilos conceded and first up...gee that would be tough,UNFAIR EVEN :evil:

    suppose pike will ride marasco if ponty jumps off(dont see why he would with upcoming races in mind??)..we'll see,so many hiccups,ive got doubts he will run myself...nothing in the "rag" as yet....

    A few horses won't know themselves with only 53kg to carry. I hope Marasco does make it to the race, but I think 7kg will be avoided.

    If Marasco is scratched what will happen to the weights??

    Surely we wouldnt have a handicap where every horse carried 57kgs?

    Marasco is running i hear with Pike booked to ride but if he did get scratched before acceptance time all wieghts would go to 57kg thats the rule.

    Because he is on Megatic - that horse is one to follow, will be set for everything - can understand why he would stay on

    Is that 100% Della ,i no Megatic is PH ride but will Marsco and Megatic clash ????If so what races ??? Marasco wouldnt go to the KTown ?? wouldnt get the 1800m IMO- if the Mighty M goes to the Railway what weight would he get ????

    Probably wont clash much but I would say Harvey would be keen to be on Megatic all campaign - Railway is worth $1 mill this year as we know - gotta secure a top ride - big payday for winning jock.

    Dont think Marasco will go Kingston Town but who knows.

    SWFA has to be the only option for Marasco, even with the highest of opinion of his ability in comparison to other horses, a swing in weights of these proportions is too much. I'm scratching my head over the weight given to Megatic, or is the handicapper saying that the remaining horses would be weighted in the high 40's and low 50's on a true handicap scale ?

    its because of the "-8" scale appied due to Marasco's rating. Given a -8 to the normal weight carried by the others, they all hit the bottom weight being 53kgs.

    Beat the Storm, Classy Nugget, and Famous Roman, are the horses to beat in this race given the massive pull in weights and all are in top form.

    If Megatic and Marasco have their sights set on later races, logically this one will get under their guard.

    Why would anyone use a $100k race for a run just because they are set for Railway? Cant agree there.

    Marasco started first up over 1500m with 60kgs last prep and was beaten just over 2l by Universal Ruler. Given he's been in work a while now he should be fit.

    Megatic, well he is second up and should strip fitter. With 53kgs, why would you waste an oppotunity to win a listed race worth so much :shock:

    I could be wrong, but can't see the logic in using the Northerly Stakes just to get them fit. Thats what trials are for!

    id be very surprised if marasco doesnt start in the railway ,all being well....

    Proved he can run a mile and i dont think 1200 suits him as well anymore so winterbottom wouldnt be in my sights.Anyway we will see,win lose or draw saturday just hoping he does in fact run.
    As for jock,suprised a tad...was maybe a judgement call re megatic ability wise....
    Megatic looks the weight special in that race,classy nugget doesnt give up easily and gave a fair field a beating at the same trip and remains at the same weight as well.FR taking a decent step up here for the first time,actually think he might struggle to beat mighty M home into top 3 or 4.
    IF marasco were to win this....rest are not much hope of beating him later.

    Agreed, if Marasco can win first up with this weight the rest will have little chance of reversing the result in the Railway, if the Eastern horses come over many of the locals won't even get a start.

    Famous Roman gets a wonderful opportunity here, dropping 5.5kg on his winning last run and having not carried such a low weight since his win in November last year. Classy Nugget only drops 2 - 2.5kg on recent runs, but is in wonderful form. Beat the Storm surprised a lot of people including yours truly, and drops only 1.5kgs for his last win.

    Megatic is in extremely well at the weights, but although he finished off his last run in a very good 600m time, he gets a long way back and I think the distance will suit better at the mile.

    So yes I am biased, but it is Famous Roman for me.

    no disrespect, but i couldnt have famous roman in this.
    Outclassed imo. I may be proven wrong after saturday!
