Perth Wildcats lost Game 1 of their Semi Final series against Illawarra Hawks 72-74 last night at Perth Arena. Wildcats led for most of the night, with the Hawks taking the lead with 1:26 remaining. Game 2 is on Saturday at 3:30pm
Melbourne United beat South East Melbourne Phoenix 96-78 in Game 1 tonight at Qudos Bank Arena. Some late baskets flattered the scoreline, as United led by as much as 33 points early in the final quarter.
It's been 21 years since the Wildcats last won a series after losing the opening game (2000 Qualifying Final series vs West Sydney Razorbacks) and 26 years since they last won a series after losing the opening game on their home court (1995 Grand Final series vs North Melbourne Giants). Perth Wildcats lead 46-32 at H/T in the deciding Semi Final against Illawarra Hawks at Perth Arena tonight. Todd Blanchfield is playing a blinder with 21 points, 10/10 from the free throw line.
Just about coughed up the 14 point lead inside 4 minutes in the 3rd quarter. Wildcats only 3/18 from the field this quarter. Wildcats up 55-51 at 3/4 time.
