Racing was huge in WA in the late 70s & early 80s. Big Money, big field & lots of raiders from the East at the Summer Carnival. For no particular reason I did up a list of WA horses from this era that raced and won in town for what it seemed an eternity… winning as 8, 9, 10 & 11 year old. Here is a list of WA BASED & TRAINED (no ES raiders in list) "war horse/veterans/warriors"
Sovereign Ghost
Heron Bridge
Bridge of Friendship
Brechin Castle
Tactics
Norms Delight ( I think It was winning as a 12YO).
Buckshot Bandit
Hanging in
Rex the Robber
Bunglar
Twin Spin
Cantabrian
Dots Best Bet
Ride the Eagle
Frequency
Abindab
Major Croft
British Steel
Burrindale Country
Rainbow Chaser
Tattenham Sport
Paragon of Virtue
Gilby
Haulpaks Image
Tackle the Pak
Ink Street
National Boy
Little Imagele
Twin Spin
Coal Pak
Pliancy
Cherry Mak
Jemoyn...
Feel free to add to it. BTW it is a bit of fun, let no get serious.

There was a lot of other things going on in the time period as well Muppet . Which may explain to some extent why they raced on for longer
