Some of you here should scan the employment pages of the turf club and applie for a stewards job next time one comes available. To say someone is definitely to blame for that fall without being able to access the stewards head on patrol film(which to my knowledge is not available for public viewing). You would be a shoe in for the job

While riding in a race self-preservation,of ones self is paramount, but declaring  a position is rightfully yours, from barrier rise can alter very quickly, horses cover 50 metres in three seconds..

There was far to much going-on, to lay blame. But one thing you will never shift a horse or horses once they have neck,on you,in the early stages of race when there on the bridle and applying pressure, As the gates were released, Mcnaught wanted  staffords lad line going onto the course proper it was a easy shift, because stent's horse wasn't on the bridle.to hold her position,

Pateman  looks like his going to get the one out line first at the, same time B. Parnham flicks his horse on the shoulder to drive it up under him, plus at the same time mcnaught who I have posted previously has no fear, goes were angels fear to tread. hang on boys its my position but from behind the other two,ran out of room, onto the heels of superior smile.

There was no rightful owner of the one out line, just prior to the bubble. wonder what caught jades attention to her left just as they go onto the course proper..- if chris parnham had to take evasive action to associate blame to Nichol thought would have noticed more in his hand and feet movements. imo, very unfortunate racing incident, with  a terrible outcome,.but I couldn't pin anyone for it.

To be fair I stipulated many times in my opinion only. I think it's good discussion on a forum like this.

Was awful to watch. Really feel for everyone involved. Many jockeys played their part in the incident as they seemed hellbent on heading for the rail even though it was a long run to the first turn. IMO nicols could have held his line for a lot longer than he did and pateman was too aggressive getting to the 1 wide line while parnham and mcnaught were too aggressive trying to push up into a spot that wasnt really there. Tight racing is dangerous racing. Condolences go out to the connections of NM

Nicol kept looking to his left in his effort to get to the rail...the incident happened behind him.

Yep. By doing so he has marginally cut out Superior Smile which checked off him, going back into the already bumper car'd Notta Mocha causing it to blunder and fall. Game of inches, bloody rough and tough job being a jockey it must be said.

The inquiry into the use of the whip by Kayla Cross on Corporal Larrikan was adjourned to a later time due to time constraints.
See I told you they had a plane to catch :D

I'll be very interested to see if Laqdar Ramoly gets his fair whack for excessive whip use today @ York race 3.

On the flipside did anyone see the effort of The Pontiff on The Cat Ratcher at Esperance? I should re-phrase that- lack of effort. Last 20 metres or so looked bad

    Yep definitely noticed that.

No stewards report from Esperance yet?

After Jade McNaught getting charged 3x this last week with careless riding, it will be interesting to see what the 3rd penalty is when the stewards re-convene on Wednesday at Ascot. With such a spate of incidents in a short period they've gotta make a statement and up the penalty surely. Especially if you take into account she's had plenty of warnings prior to this.
***additionally if you look at the race at Ascot yesterday where she crossed the line, she was charged with "careless riding" for deliberately bumping Noel Rudlands mount for a distance of 100 metres trying to force him to yield. Since when is this not improper riding??? Since Shaun McGruddy got a month for the same thing??? (Which for the record was much tamer than what she did yesterday).
On one hand its good to see the stewards getting involved but on the other- that was improper riding and should've been dealt with as such.

I see the pontiff got 12 days for excessive whip use on Arctic Stream.

Stewards considered whether to lodge a protest but decided against because of the margin and ease of the win.

It is encouraging that the stewards gave it thought to lodge a protest.
If they won't uphold a protest involving interference where a horse goes down by less than a half-head margin though, how are they going to quantify if whipping too much should be upheld?

Suspending him for 12 days is enforcing it isn't it?
A fine as well would've been appropriate in my opinion, good prizemoney and an even better sling from Mr Fiore, plenty to break the rule for.

No taking the race off him is enforcing it. That’s why it’s a sh.t rule he has been found guilty but placing stand. Fu.k it off or start doing something about it. Biggest grey area in racing

A post race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be slow to recover. Trainer advised he would monitor and report any findings.

    This really pisses me off.

    Poor excuse imo
