A very good meeting put together here, I like a couple.

R4: No12 Eloquent Mach the place. Under rated this bloke. I think he will get a lovely run through, settle midfield and run on very well.

R6 No1 Stroganoff 1 by 3. Not going to have too much on him but from the trip he is going to get he'll be around the place.

R9 No1 Whoswhointhezoo. To me he has been disrespected in the early markets. Liberty Rose is a good mare and will go well of the sit no doubt but they hardly flew home last week and she wasn't exactly charging at them. The zoo can do its own thing and keep going.

R10 No1 Absolution. This is the one, get on this fella. He will lead and just keep running. The fav I feel is being over rated on what it has done so far based on a visually good run 2 starts ago when the times don't really marry up with the look.

Happy punting.

Yes gil some very interesting races on paper! My thoughts!

R2 No 11 Dont leave gangbuster out of your first four. Could settle a little closer than last start n with a bit of luck could sneak a place.

R5 No 10 Always Arjay going really well n likely to receive a great run on pace trip. Place!

R6 is a very intriguing with a tonne of speed off front. This might not be his race but debt free charlie is close to a win.

R8 No 10 Its bt win is going better than numerical form suggests. This is not an overly stong SS. Should go close with safe passage.

R10 No 10 Hoiho is drawn to get a great trip and is racing well. Ew

One from melton R8 No 4 River patrol. Only bout $4 but close to win

    Good luck!

Race 4: what a great field - some very good horses 33/1 and better...pity from a betting perspective the Piranha drew the one, he's flying and may put the bite on them again from that draw but once more ridiculously short odds from gate one.
They don't miss 'em and they never risk 'em unlike the bookmakers of old.

Do not underestimate Valbonne tonight. Best long priced in form sleeper of the night

I must admit  i havent followed GP for a fair while now - to me  you need far too much luck to win - and if you bet for luck its like going to the Casino - you will go broke

However  in race 6 - ive had a small e/w bet on Majestic @ the $61 - i actually watched a replay of its last race - and it was a super run - 2130 m - 3 wide without cover - it was very strong - considering 55.7 last half

The key is K Harper has 2 in - i can see Debt Free Charlie - keeping Wesley honest up front - so the other one gets the pie ride

If that scenario happens ( thats what i mean about betting for luck ) then i reckon Majestic Star has got a great chance

    That was cheeky! Masterful drive.

Last week threw in Smoldering Ashes as a bolter to run 3rd or 4th in the first four, was upwards of 50/1 driven a treat followed the pegs, ran a reasonable 5th and had every possible hope.

Saw it running tonight and thought yes perhaps a rough chance from the one.
Starts at $3 :-O how much shorter can they go on gate one horses?!!

Andrew de campo and Matt Scott train the quinella of the $50k free for all.
What a breath of fresh air that is.......

Drive of the night by Aiden to get that derby winner to score his first free for all win. Hats off all round

Quinellas are the value tonight  7 races down - and 3 of them paid over $100 - Shannon S involved in 2 of them

Mind you the pools are atrocious - Miss Sangrils race - Quin pool $1400 - where are all the punters

Only one NZ bred 3 y/o finished in the first five placings in the Caduceus Club Classic.
Well done to KTC bloodstock in providing the winner Patrick The Piranha and best of luck at the upcoming WA Sales. Congratulations also to the other WA breeders who provides the numbers of classy horses that finished close up.
This is the type of result that points to the future growth prospects of WA harness racing and needs to be specifically encouraged by RWWA policy and direction in race programming.

Some great tipping by the troops, River Patrol at Melton, roughie Matjestic Star into a drum, Soho Chelsea at good odds and three others above well fancied all ran places at good odds - Always Arjay, Hoiho and Eloquent Mach who was a terrific run.

Wesley got it served up in front alright Marko albeit by a different horse, was gone then. Chiaroscuro got caught up behind them, forget he ran.

Mr. Mojito got right out to $5.90 on tote - Wesley a leader drawn near the pegs of course runs odds on.

Once again the fancied runners from gate one not good.
The shortest four in the betting were Patrick The Piranha - first and the other three who were fancied Smoldering Ashes, She Could Be Good and Whiswhointhezoo all unplaced.

Last Monday at Pinjarra said to a guy watch Shannon Suvaljko someway somehow get this battler Tactile Sensation into a place - backs up again last night and at better than $5 a place he does it again.

Part of the problem with quinella pools etc being down is that they bet on too bloody much!
Punters in tabs/pubtabs are interested in one thing - the next event and wherever that is.

The old Friday nights of just Gloucester Park - Harold Park - Gawler - Country Victoria and Mandurah Greyhounds have now been usurped by 7,386 other races around the world to bet on.

Was told - "that there's a demand for these events''...yes $23 quinella pools on the Norway trots - $18 in exacta pools on the Swindon greyhounds. A $3 carryover on the Lingfield double.
Just $100s in the win pool yes that's a strong demand.
It's punter beware in relation to pool size - but it's unfair when punters are invited to bet into pools of literally $40 or $50 - sometimes far less.

Exacta pools last night at GP that can't even crack 1k, quinella pools similar - double pools of $300.... We are talking the whole of WA and Victoria here plus the other affiliates of Supertab, if you observe pool size on the novelty bets it's poor.

Something is wrong whereby you can't take a quinella or exacta ten times or a double just three or four times because the pools are that small and if you do you're just betting against yourself.

The humble tote needs reinvigorating - very sad and its for various reasons - that they've ( Tabcorp) tote betting slip so badly.

The population of WA and Victoria and the best that can be done is just a lousy 1k in quinellas and exactas - the double pools of just $300 - their should be a Royal Commission into it!

I wonder what Mark Read told the stewards regarding his drive on Vincenzo Perurggia?

Awhile ago when they joined with the Vic tab  a spokesman said that the pools for exotic betting would increase... however when you have a decent bet your div, is reduced as the pools are not large enough. So when you bet with the corps it doesn't effect your div. I am waiting for no winning div. to see what the corps pay.Highly unlikely but possible..

Corps always bet some back so that’ll probably never happen

Great night of pacing at GP last night...firstly congrats to JJ with Clarenden Hustler getting the chocies at a nice price I am sure Riders would have loved the drive too...secondly the 2 feature races the Caduceus Club Classic & RWWA Cup both taken out by WestBreds...and lastly deep down in the Great Southern the now former cult figure Louise Alberto finally saluting the judge albeit now with the Lewis stable!!

For sure VK Shannon Suvaljko has ( think of that famous rock band who had the hit My Sharona ) yes he has the knack!

Seen them from Alford to Zakara - and this bloke whilst not perfect ( who is ? ) measures up to the best I've seen.
It's a rare ability to consistently get horses with average ability and at long prices into the placings, if not sure have a look at his drive on 200/1 chance Cracka Star when third in early November - waste of time putting that horse into novelties, will run last.

Can't be proven but would any other driver have got Tactile Sensation into the placings at around 5/1-6/1 a place on the Monday then the Friday ? Not on your nelly!

The drive on Absolution in the last - none of this - "yep I'm going to try to lead and destroy the favourite in the process - and will also destroy myself but that doesn't matter" talk.

Commonsense on Absolution ( it's not complicated root canal work) gave his horse every possible chance and the rest looked after itself.

These are not champions he's driving - most of them are average battlers. That stable good to see - it remains Australia's best kept secret.
