with the regular season now done and dusted, that only leaves the important stuff... finals footy the Brownlow! most will agree on the '08 premiers so let the discussion begin, who wins and why...

Who will win the 2008 Brownlow Medal?
Gary Ablett, Jimmy Bartell, Matthew Richardson, Chris Judd, Brent Harvey, Adam Cooney??

    probably dont watch enough footy to have a confident pick so ill stick with the fav Ablett..the theory bartel may have been taking votes off him to harm his chances doesnt wash with me..they have won 21/22 and mostly dominated so would it not be ablett 3 votes,bartel 2 per game where they were both very good? :lol:
    Also i reckon Ablett is a bit of an umpires pet,well regarded and plays a clean game....

    saw a price geelong/ablett double at about 3.40,not bad value but im unaware of brownlow odds?..how about framing a market hashter? :P

    a good source tells me he has ablett in front by atleast 4 votes after round 18 and bartell storming home and well in front after the final round, does anyone know exactly when he started his spell (what round) and for how long?

    there is always one player that gets under our guard and pops up each year, kerr did it a few years back when cuz won it, simon black least year when bartell saluted, who will it be this year?? i think maybe franklin, i know im breaking my no.1 theory in saying its a midfielders award and im probably wrong but i have a funny feeling.... :?

    i see ozbet have the bet type of most votes for each team, there is some serious money to be made in several of these bet options.... :wink:

    Cooney could be a smokey too ? Franklin possibly.

    ablett was out for 2 rounds perhaps? again unsure..highly unlikely i will have a punt however mate :lol:

    yeh that was on bf i think, ablett/geel double.
    YES is at 2.20 and NO at 1.40, instead of backing the YES lay the NO and be liable for a minimal payout should he not win the brownlow...

    Extremely rare for anyone other than a goal kicking midfielder to win.

    Bartel has had better stats this year than last and Ablett definetly not an umpires pet from what Ive been told from those who may know.

    Would be hard to split Bartel, Ablett and Harvey who had some blinders and was the standout for North - think his best games were when they won too which helps.

    I think Ablett is too short to back at current odds.

    TAB betting in the run too - Bartell storms home with a few good games so it could be an interesting count.

    is ablett a false price fav del after missing how ever many games it was he did? some say he was that far in front, he still has it sewn up?

    reminds me when Judd was odds on a few years back when he missed all those games for wce and didnt even finish top 5, i remember that day like it was yesterday cause i backe dhim to finish top 5 a @ $1.20 :evil: :oops:

    A piece on AFL Teams last night said Champion Data had Ablett and Bartell tied and clearly in front of ,I think, Harvey.
    Apparently Champion Data have got it prettty right the last couple of years

    I thought Judd was the darkhorse ? Good player in an ordinary team always polls well. He had a terrific run through the last half of the season with a number of best on grounds
