    Nice vote for Matador Ablett.

Maybe if it was rock hard and Vizard felt it, but it aint. He just wins. Fast or slow pace.

Agree. Vizard too much turn of foot in the softer conditions. DT to run a brave second from so secret.

IF there's a chink in Vizard tomorrow, I think So Secret is the one.

So Secret, third run in, fit as a boxer, takes out the had-enough Vizard.

big call there chrisso, didnt look to be running on empty last time :P

Torp if you tip against vizard ENOUGH times, eventually you may be right

Get in the queue,V will carve them up late, then go for a spell with 10 wins from his last 11 starts  BOG track maybe a slight worry with 57.5,but dont think that will worry him.

after its last win i was sure wed never see 6/4 about vizard again this prep, and now i see he is equal 6/4 fav with dark target tomorrow, they have got to be kidding?
what price do you think he will start tomoz?

Nothing could possibly beat Vizard other than DT. I actually believe DT is better over 1200 and Vizard better over a 1000 but with the track conditions tomorrow its toss of the coin.

Im just praying they take a sit with DT so he can really show what hes capable of.

With a forecast for extreme weather tonight, I still have doubts on this meeting proceeding. Expecting very heavy rain for prolonged periods and by sunrise we may be back to the same position as Wed morning at Belmont.

If they run, and I was having a bet, I'm confidant on Vizard winning again, and Who Did It must be giggling watching the dark clouds roll in.

good pace from real mak, Dark Target. So Secret will be caught wide again probably, but that wont stop it from running second. Vizard with pace on, should slot it behind them and run straight past them.
Dark Target the lay of the day at $2.50.
Tarzi couldnt possibly win, but I notice $41 to $26 on tab fixed odds and $67 to $34 on Centrebet (likely to be less than $100 bet).
Those who tipped matador to win have lost their marbles!

So Secret is a fresh horse and will probably be seen out by 1200 on the heavy IMHO.

i was hoping they didnt run dt tomorrow. he didnt handle the track last saturday, and it wasnt as bad then as it is now, and he busted his guts to win an that mustv flattened him.
id put him away and save him for ascot.

Weather looks clear on the radar for Perth tonight, with the chance of light showers in the morning.
Looks like going ahead tomorrow, are we looking at a heavy track? or with the expected breeze could it be slow?
  • TheDivaTheDiva    13,248 posts
The expected heavy rains don't look like getting here tonight. Must be a Heavy track after all that it has taken this week.

    Vizard wins.

DT on the backup, off a hard win and weight carry last week. Not for me, will run 2nd/3rd with So Secret.

Other than that maybe Tarzi as an outsider.

Vizard appears to relish the conditions, is weighted evenly and looks the goods - however tomorrow is D-Day, he has to prove he is eastern states material (which I think he is, but he has to win tomorrow)

    20/39 HAVENT MUCH IDEA

    GO THE CHAMP..................... :D

That run confirms the horse is worthy of a trip east - thing Vizard has going for him is his best form appears to be on the bog tracks, so Melbourne should suit him, even in the spring!

I think he will atleast give some Eastern States races a good shake!

Unbeaten at five runs now on dead or worse tracks. Not many horses can do that.

Also the fact he won at 1200m, allows him more options in Melbourne, over being a 1000m horse only.

Thought Dark Target's run was full of merit. Needs an experienced jock on top - apprentices don't seem to handle him right!

Was that a sly shot at Pikey??

I'd like to see Vizard over 1400. He's shown he can relax, his turn of foot would be dynamite in that type of event.

Nope, thought Pike rode him well today, he was never going to win today!

I mean all the apprentices that have been on him, apart from Noske (I feel Noske is the next big thing from the apprentice ranks)

He needs an experienced jockey or atleast a talented one.

wat other apprentices have been on him :?

Sorry my bad, I was thinking a younger apprentice rode him once or twice - it was a few of D.Staecks rides that were average, especially when they tried to hold the horse when it wanted to roll along.

All in all, doesn't matter, horse is good (would be better if it had good racing manners) but that's where the comparison to Vizard ends - not in the same class.

Dark Target has only been ridden by 3 Jockeys previous to Pike.

Noske 3/3 - the other riders were Harvey and Staeck ???????

i think that vizard has proved he can cruise up to the best we have here(excluding marasco/el p)and go by them, just have to measure his run at them as he seems to go into cruise late..i.e doesnt like to flog them

why wouldnt you take him east.Bugger all wfa races here and he will if not already get weighted out of open handicap events here(could still win them with 60 alah marasco imo)...

PS...anyone know the last time a jockey has ridden a horse for 9 for 9 here ?? could have been 11/11 imo if not suspended when mcgruddy got v home in 1 race and the kid was unlucky but did lack exp. also.....

WA actually has several good WFA sprints - in fact its probably our best catered racetype which is not surprising why we have had such good sprinters / middle distance types in recent years.

    Group 2
Lee Steere Stakes Nov Ascot 1400 WFA
Winterbottom Stakes Dec Ascot 1200 WFA

    Group 3
Prince of Wales Stakes Nov Ascot 1200 WFA
AJ Scahill Stakes Dec Ascot 1400 WFA

I'm with you there MnP - I think he'd give the eastern states a shake and be very, very competitive!

Sprint Challenge maybe? Or something easier?

yes dell, not terrible i agree, but as V is due a spell etc...probably wont go there??
and throw in GD's dislike for the "harder" tracks...has won plenty on good going so i dont necessarily agree with the assessemnt of him running in summer but cant knock how he has placed him so far
