dougie got it wrong, definitely didn't fulfill his obligation  to the punting public to ride his horse out to the line, all that's left is  the penalty  amount, think 3 months is warranted.

Will he be charged with failing to ride it out?

I could have been mistaken for thinking the pontiff was back from suspension early seeing the horse's rider drop their hands before the line :-\"

Somewhere Lule Nolen is shaking his head and saying "there but for the grace of god, go I"

"Not a good look" because the closeup slow mo showed he did have a look at Damien Lane and did not continue to ride his mount out.
At least Luke Nolan shook BC up a few strides before the line.
Dougie should get 6 months, but for promotional relationships he will get a slap on the wrist.

@detonator You could argue that it was too close to the line to make a difference though. In Black Caviar's case she actually throttled down when Nolen eased. He would have been tarred and feathered if she'd got beat. Moody was visible upset.

Douglas Whyte charged with failing to ride Scales Of Justice out,
inquiry adjourned to allow connections to see additional replay angles.

I notice that all today's race replays on cris show the normal close up slow mo of the finish at the completion of the race. Except for the Kingston Town. ????
    Too hot too handle ???
Smells of a likely cover up.
Glad I still have it on IQ because next time someone tries to tell me the sport is clean, I just push the button on the remote control.

It looked almost as if he mistook where the winning post was. He knew Stratum Star was coming didn't make sense to stop riding...unless he thought the winning post had been reached. :-??

Thank you Yoshi in the last, sounds like DMc got out of jail by the call!

Did it cost Scales Of Justice another Group One ? I'm yes. Think about 60-40 it did. Interested if anybody thinks that Stratum Star was still going to win. :-?

Sorry I meant it's on the cris home pages, not on the days racing page.

I counted 7 strides prior to reaching the line where Whyte was looking at Lane and or the Weir coloured blinkers. He used the whip 3 times on the first 3 of those strides then put it away whilst still looking at the other horse. It appeared he wasn't interested in looking at the post. If he was riding the horse out with the whip then he could be excused for not visually looking for the line. I can't help but reiterate it appeared he was more interested in Weirs horse than the post.

Couldn't watch the replays on Tabtouch but could on cris. Looks suss. I was on the winner and had my bonus bet on it too. To be honest would rather the Smith stable and S.o.j get both G1's than me get a few $$

If you owned Scales Of Justice would you think you got a fair go.
$5000 fine Falcon. You are being sarcastic surely.
Its a $400,000 rob the way i see it and to disqualify Daniel Pearce for 6 months is a disgrace.
Based on that sentence Whyte has to get at least 6 months.

He stopped riding 3 strides 4 the post, probably wouldn't have won, but fact is he stopped riding, looked like he was all set to give a wave and realised there was further to go. Surely the 2 sets of Rules will come in here.

Don't be influenced by the free grog across the bar. !!!
Surely you can find about 2 inches by one more crack of the whip and pushing the horses head down. But hey I am not a jockey.
jimmy cassidy or mick dittman would of held on to win , of that i am certain , i will never forget pumper getting pennyweight point past the post in the  WFA lee steere over double blue

If its only a $5000 fine hand your job in stewards. They are the reason perth racing is a disgrace to start off with. Can stop ride in 1 of our biggest group 1s yet doug has to much of a repuation for these jokers to do anything. Gods sake hope this was a joke and stewards actually did something coz apparantly even weir put more on the bar than these guys could dish penalties. Stewards should clarify here coz its a joke

Wow, break the rules and cost owners hundreds of thousands and punters even more. Fine a man worth millions $5000? That has got to be a joke. He'd pay more than that for a couch. Where is the deterrent?

@Rodent I don't envy the stewards at all-they either slap Whyte with a lettuce leaf and punters who backed the runner up will be livid or they throw the book at the South African and risk attracting another world class jockey to their carnival. International incident looming.

WA is using the lettuce leaf approach because they are scared of not being able to attract riders. Understandable BUT are there any jockeys in the world who would be worried about going to Perth because you might get time for dropping your hands and getting beaten a nose?
Seriously? That'd be like saying I won't travel to America because if I murder someone I might get the death penalty!

Watching the slow-mo replay on Thoroughbred Weekly on Sky this morning Whyte actually celebrates and yells out in 'victory' when he stops racing-the way Bossy used to do L-)

If he got 6 months-although I doubt he'll get anywhere near that long-i think it might stop them coming. He's guilty regardless of his plea. It's  the severity of his punishment that is important now. No one is talking murder anyway. I think a more apt analogy would be getting 12 months jail(the max term is 15yrs!) for having a couple of esctasy tablets in bali-Michelle Leslie was lucky she only got three months!

where does it say he only got $5k fine?
Stewards report still says the hearing was adjourned.

There was a thread about celebrating when the Oaks winner stood up and took a bow (Avdulla) a long way before the post.
I wondered how long it would be before someone buggered up their "early crow"

    the answer is... not long...

The only thing that would stop them coming,is if the prizemoney dropped. The stewards control  racing, hope they don't succumb to his    ambassador  for w.a. and a champion,  his 2nd  home  jaragon and pressure from above  to alter the correct penalty. What does  adjourned to allow connections  to view other replays got do with it outside of trying to convince  them how much money he has cost them.Blindsiding  the public  in any sport, days have long gone  with everyone having the same access to particular incidents.

didn't consider that, very good point.
it's basically irrelevant twaddle from them
