Last Friday night during the vital moments before score up young Maddison Brown driving Franco Rayner in a race where the start was crucial vying off against Mach Time a question was asked.. 'who's going to win tomorrow at Ascot between Perfect Reflection and Disposition ?' ..seriously...cmmmmmmon.

Another carve up from Warwick on an odds on fave. Good luck to the punters who continue to back him at short odds. Enjoy the baked beans.......
    He is absolutely hopeless.

Something seemed to go drastically wrong. Dropped out not far into the race. Was in a good spot too. Not sure what happened.

Bled both nostrils was always going to happen when I was on

Was probably always going to happen when half being asked to go off the gate, then restraining to make it look like you want cover then seeing jnr was going to give you cover and asking your horse to go again and then getting into a battle for no reason, losing this and being posted in breeze through a 28sec 1st quarter then doing the work. Why didnt he just take the cover and lob 1 by 1 on jnr especially when the horse won coming from last with a soft run its race before.

The Storm Chief gets 3rd and I queue up to collect the trifecta but ......I don't know the horse all that well, maybe he needs to be held up for one last crack........which he most certainly was. I have to say I am no fan of this style of flailing about, lieing out the back of the cart with loose reins etc in the so called USA style. It is far removed from Tim Tetrick who it is apparently modeled on and Chris Lewis seems to have gone okay with his 4950 wins sitting conventionally. I had reserved commenting on it for a while but after watching, not for mine. To each his own.

I'm not completely convinced by the driving technique either, watching last night when he was on Padabing Stride it certainly didnt look good.

What I do like though is that he's giving them their chance. I reckon more than half the drivers in WA wouldn't have even tried to cross Major Catastrophe purely because if its place in the market but he did his form and had a crack.
Thats a good observation re the USA style and Padabing Stride at Narrogin

Im a fan of the USA style - but when the international drivers were out  here for the World Drivers Championship 2-3 years ago - they only adopt that style/tactic - about the last 400 metres - keeping them hard on the bit so they dont give up

However with Padabing Stride ( and i wasnt financially invested in the race ) Grantham with 2 laps to go - is leaning horizontal out of the cart - and i dont think the horse was pulling . I actually felt sorry for the horse -it half sort of choked down and then broke in sympathy

Leaning out the back and jumping around like a fool with no control..big accident waiting to happen

    @Markovina

That was exactly how I saw it too and I didn't bet in the race either.

Yes Gil, not questioning his positioning or the obvious zeal and enthusiasm he has, definitely has a go, doesn't always work out (does it ever?) but you generally don't die wondering. But I think he over does the hanging out the back of the cart bit and doesn't have total control at times. The Bucket List behind Liberty Belle the other night was all over the shop and did well to stay in its gear, at least that is what it looked like to me. But wouldn't want to discourage obvious talent, maybe just tidy it up a bit.

your spot on JJ, notice P.McMullen from QLD drives the same style, just needs a bit of polish, MG might get that when he decides to to USA for experience in the near future

Very valid points trooper - the only thing I can think of is that under no circumstances would the Bond camp surrender the death to the Hall camp.

Unfortunately it backfired and I did my money cold. I still think the horse would not have won had he given up the death but only my opinion.

However I still rate Ryan as a top driver.

    cheers cisco

The problem with your post is that you stated there was nothing wrong with the drive. Id rebut also say with 90% confidence i believe ryan handing the breeze up means he doesnt tail out last. Which means his drive was bad. Because he without a doubt finishes closer than he did. Ryan got made look like a fool again but alot of the time he does it to himself. Jnr went passed him took the lead then still left him in the breeze. Of course jnr was then gonna make sure times cooked him. Warrick is hopeless. Ill stand by that and its a opinion of alot more than just me. A top driver. Give me a spell. But each to their own. That drive last night was ego and not professionalism.

And its not about winning. Its about giving your horse the best chance. That was not giving your horse the best chance. Stewards queried the horses performance. Geez maybe query the drivers performance. Poor thing was slaughtered.

Fair points trooper - as I said in my post it's only my opinion.

As a matter of interest trooper who do you rate as your top 6 drivers in WA?

    1. Both Suvaljkos
    2. Nathan Turvey
    3. Morgan Woodley
    4. Chris Lewis
    5. Gary Hall Jnr.
    6. Michael Grantham.
Plus any driver who wins for me when the hard earned money is on.

Worst drivers...not telling... :-SS like the drivers not so much by winners ( although that helps ) like drivers that drive well to run into the top 4. The best drives are sometimes on longshots that a wonderful drive enables them to run into the money. Seen the Suvaljkos do that often. Grantham too.

Hey riders you are a game man to put Callan in the same category as Shannon. Callan is a very competent driver but he is not in the same post code as Shannon. Just my humble opinion.

Kiara Davies , Jocelyn Young , Maddison Brown all promising. Seen them all drive good races. That was brilliant the way Brown got Franco Rayner to the lead last week. She rates them perfectly in front.
