For top line managers yes...mate. For 5hit like me and few other old diehards it'd be good money, but i was earning that 20 years ago in my prime, so the good managers of today would be demanding more than that.

in my prime..would not have got out of bed for that....

i'm talking broking in Sydney in the 80's....now i'd get out of the cot for 50k.....

me too.....and these days i actually have to work at it...way back when, it came that naturally it was like a game over a few hours until the 1 pm lunch, which signaled the end of the day!!!!!

Sounds like good money to me. I'm on just over $25 per hour and to get that I have to do an enormous amount of training, which seems like it never stops.

I have to work for my toys. Here is a shot from my brand new camera of medium format size. I wandered around Fremantle today and had some lunch on the pier. The camera cost $5,000 just for the body alone !

falcon and me??? yep, we been there, done that and both will never go back to it...Unfortunately when you earn the big bucks you generally are under paid for the hours you put in and the crap you have to deal with..the long lunches of the 80's and 90's was purely a distraction so you could get up on a Sunday morning and go and do another 12 hours work!!!!!..
    <:-P <:-P =)) =))
  • spinkingspinking    3,998 posts
so Rio are we to believe you 2 started work at 1am thats what time you had to be starting if you were doing 12 hours and doing lunch at 1

It must of been detrimental to Falcs state of mental health old mate cant even remember what he posted around 12 months back

nah...it was that easy to do spinking i was starting at 9 and finishing at 1 to go to the pub..generally most Fridays..and occasionally on Wednesdays

i was just highlighting that i worked most days of the week, including Sundays and didn't spend anywhere near enough time with the important people in my life...thus the statement of being way under paid for the hours worked and the rewards gained...Even if i could do it, i'd never do it again!!! Money and prestige are no where near the sacrifice IMO

Having seen the track morning after morning I raced my concerns with a few trainers the other day and beieve me, they a have their fingers and toes crossed for a better result than what we saw last year. There are bare patches with no coverage what so ever, admittedly I know nothing about turf but seriously hope it comes good wel before Oct comes around...

There is a new event to be announced later this week to the press. According to Perth Racing, it is something of significance for the National and International Calendar they claim.

RWWA will be in attendance to answer any questions, much like their money, they want to keep a close eye on how it is spent.

"they claim"....oh yeah...national and international..... :)) ...does not quite warrant.. =))

Hahaha this should be interesting... They going to call it 'Mystery Meeting' where the races will be held at whichever track is still in suitable racing order come the end of the season???

maybe if neither track is ready it will be a gymkhana relay raced between the two tracks along the river..
    3 x 1000m races
    2 x 1200m
    2 x 1400m
    1 x 1800m

For a total of 10km...that'd nearly be from one track to the other and back again. All electronically tagged for GPS timing..You can bet on the individual races. The overall winner. The team that wins the most sections.

Gee PR are really getting into the swing of things better than i could ever imagine.

No seriously, the smoke signals read that a new race will be announced in a revamped carnival. The 'carnival' is being relaunched and the three Gr 1's have already been announced for consecutive Saturday's, but this appears as something additional.

So I shirt fronted someone who should definitely know, and he flat out denied it. He did say my mail in the past was remarkably good, but in this instance he knew nothing of a new race.

So who do you believe ? Find out Thursday I guess.
