A Managing Director is a Board Member who runs the business, a CEO does not sit on a Board and reports to a Board on operations. One wonders if the appointment of another unelected Board member is within "WATC" by laws. Still saw no evidence of supposed by law that allowed it the first time. Did any other members receive anything and mine lost in the mail???

Resignation of RWWA General Manager Racing.

Racing and Wagering Western Australia (RWWA) congratulates Professor
John Yovich on his appointment as Managing Director of the Western
    Australian Turf Club (WATC).

Prof. Yovich was a member of the RWWA Board between 2013 and 2015
prior to his appointment as General Manager Racing in June last year.

During this period, Prof. Yovich’s broad experience as a breeder,
specialist veterinarian and owner has contributed to the business
    operations of RWWA.

“Over the past 12 months John has played an important role in
overseeing racing operations across the state together with addressing a
number of key strategic initiatives for RWWA,” said RWWA CEO Richard
    Burt.

“We acknowledge the contribution John has made and look forward to
dealing with him in his new role as Managing Director of WATC.”

For the interim period, the RWWA CEO will work with Racing Divisional
managers to ensure ongoing management of RWWA’s racing business.

I always wondered how they did that without the state parliament amending the WA Turf Club Act 1892 (WA).

The had a lawyer stand up at the last AGM saying he had verified they were able to make the change in the current by laws, but would not provide any actual reference in response to the question. So would really love them to produce that evidence, as a paid up member. So far my requests have been ignored.

it will be interesting to see what a multi retired person who is a breeder and been on various boards can bring to the club that none of the current board members can??? To me it is a same/same appointment. Most board members are breeders, on other boards, or in business.....and still we have more problems than a tilting Titanic!!!!!

FCat and Bob...keep at them fellows, dont over post on here (especially if you names on here identify you to anyone), or the rolling eyes will dismiss every suggestion you make. good luck.

Can someone please clarify a small confusion in my mind.

Perth Racing a few months ago, heralded a new era for the Club with the Chairman and his Committee stepping aside to form a Board of Directors, with a new tenure and no elections as had previously been held on a bi-annual basis.

For many months, Perth Racing and their corporate head hunters they retained, failed to come up with a suitable candidate for the CEO position held by Julian Sullivan on an caretaker basis.

Yesterday, 26th July, we hear that RWWA have lifted the financial burden on Perth Racing by taking over the costs of broadcasting television coverage with a new company coming in from Interstate. Perth Racing had only the week before, made several staff redundant from the vision department. In addition, RWWA has made funds available to all clubs for much needed capitol works, but those most at risk according to RWWA CEO Richard Burt, were the larger clubs.

Today, 27th July, a senior executive of RWWA, has been placed into Perth Racing as Managing Director, not as CEO but as MD.

    Now that has me perplexed.

Have the new board of Perth Racing  been displaced ?

Sources say that very Board were the head hunters, so one would assume they have set things up nicely for themselves. I note with interest no mention on WATC Press Release of Professor Yovichs previous position on the WATC Committee. Why not mention his previous links to the Club? Something does not sit right with this Damien, but I can't put my finger on it.

I was going to mention that I thought the doctor was a previous committeeman but was not sure.

the Yovich family have been a part of WA racing for decades...red and black silks I think.

this appointment has me perplexed, I do not know what to make of it.

I guess it will all come out in the wash, but, as FatCat says I cannot put my finger on it either.

I wonder where that finger goes? Mmmmm

Damo, more than just the vision team went. More rats off the boat. Julian has resigned with them into next year, doesn't feel like a caretaker role anymore!
