Thanks CPL, its taken a bit of time but we are confident that he will do well here..is winning every trial he steps out in and keeps on getting faster and faster every run. Was very tempted to leave him there, but the trainer said that he will be better suited here than there.

Our great dog hope has arrived back in WA.
Just been watching the Ipswich races and i only saw one time, but he has been going around the 431m about 0.3seconds faster than that winner...So if we had left him there he could've been a winner from teh get go

Lap of Luxury chases hard and gets the chocolates...I know its a litter sister but 3 wins and 2 seconds from the past 5 starts is a good indicator

that's an interesting suggestion Rex...when teh powers to be stamp his paper RWWA we'll put it up here.

Went and saw him today and his is a spitting replica of Lap Of Luxury..Another litter sister is starting on Monday and is a lot bigger dog..Amazing first time we have seen him in 18 months and not only could we pick him out, but we also identified his sister, they looked so similar.

Also the sister you are referring to thats racing tomorrow is the one from the litter before called Touch Of Luxury. Your dogs in good hands and you will get every chance if he has the ability.
Good luck and not long now.

Yep we reckon about 4 weeks.....And touch f Luxury is a significantly bigger bitch...But Crash and the sister are dead set twins...Didn't put them side by side but if you did i reckon you'd ahve to look from the rear to determine which was which

    To all PTT'ers.

I'm not doing another one but the syndicate we formed, from on here has got to the race track with a well breed dog for just under $9k, from purchase to track in 18 months. No idea what the future holds for the dog, but it appears to be capable of running.

Do your own research.. CPL who sold us this one pointed us in a direction and we took it from there.

If you put together a dog syndicate send me a message and I'll let you know the few rules we put in place to make it a really easy process.

There are a few in our syndicate who say the number 1 rule is make anyone else except yourself the syndicate manager!!! haha. But it was basically all monies up front for the full ride, which we guessed at $8k The process has taken an extra 2 months (dog likes to make mistakes and then slowly get it right)and one more flight than would be needed if I knew what I was doing!!! So depending on the price you have to pay, the original estimate of $8k would have been pretty well on the money.

I'd strongly recommend you have a shot at it if your into thouroughbreds..it is so much cheaper, and is very cut and dried. We would have had a good idea that he was no good about 6 months, so if he was hopeless I think we would have spent about $6-7k to get to that point. rather than 30k for a "cheap" yearling...and the dog we bought was just below the top shelf of dogs around at the time. Probably the equivalent to a $40k yearling at the MM sales.

Been a challenge up to now, but we're all hoping the fun begins in a few weeks....thanks CPL and Mrs CPL for all your help...it has been much appreciated.

I hope everyone gets a ride. Remember RIO your dog has earnt some frequent flyer points that adds to the cost. No one wants to see people have a bad experianced but you guys are only weeks from your first greyhound racing and believe me, just to buy a dog and it begins it's life fast enough to even reach the track is an achievement.
Good luck and I'll be watching on.

No News is good news...yes i thought it would have had a couple of runs but have heard nothing. I suppose i can ring again, but think the main man may have left the country for a few days.

Everywhere else around the country rang, e-mailed and texted results and updates weekly. I don't think WA is the same!!!!! haha

EDIT....I don't think there is a gambler among the whole group of owners, so we wont be plunging it

Does Shane Edwards train dish lickers now ? Dogs in Singapore with the trainer "on holidays"
    =))
More than likely the wait with cannington still not up and running, northam/Mandurah copping a flogging with the transfered trials/meets and the heat at the moment too

Yes the mail has been with the owners for about 4 hours so i think i can announce it here.

KRAH is the registered name. And if your struggling to get your tongue around the name...just pronounce it as CRASH...

Which has been its kennel name from about 8 weeks!!!

Okay time to get nervous..Krah will be trying to qualify next Tuesday. After setting the pace at his last trial he run at time that would have won all but 1 of the first 6 or 7 races at Mandurah last night.

So lets hope he doesn't get stage fright and qualifies first time round for a race very soon

without scrolling back, who trains Krah, rio?

has he been to the track on a race night just to get the feel of the place?

  • RIORIO    14,902 posts

John Iwanyk has him. he has been to race nights in Ipswich with the trainer we had over there, and he will see it all next week at the qualifier.

Not too concerned about all that, he seems to be taking everything in his stride. he is probably 3-4 months behind where he could be. A bit immature and we certainly didn't push anyone to get him ready, so I think that has helped him to be a bit of a slow learner.

Whatever he does the first time he does something , he seems to do it better the next time. Think he ran the 405 in 23.4 at trials the other morning, so that is pretty well on pace to qualify.

I said to the owners the other day, if it was a horse it'd be about now I'd be telling them that it had gone shiny but had showed enough as a 2yr old to be a really good looking 3yr old; and then put it in the paddock for 3 months!!!!

Will be interesting to see how he runs at the qualifier
