Seeing as this is now on it's 10th page DMac gets a lot of knockers and R Bell a fair bit of support. I'm listening in today due to wifi issues and I have to say in the staying race just gone I had absolutely no idea what was going listening to the call.

Was dark delight scratched from that last race?

Yeah it was another where I hadno idea what was going on, big field obviously makes it harder but I don't think i'll be just listening in again anytime soon.

D.MAC has had his fair share of nockers on here rightly or wrongly I will not get involved in that one I was lucky enough to attend the carbine club lunch in Singapore last Friday DARREN did a tribute to the ANZACS mostly about the light horseman it was one of the best tributes I have heard the standing ovation that followed was as much about his speech as it was about the salute to our lighthorse he always remembers your name and gives freely of his time to talk to you so if you think the bloke who has called the last 22 perth cups is good bad or indifferent does not subtract from the fact he is a good bloke

His character, integrity and lovely manners are not in question - it's his ability to accurately and clearly call races (as is his paid profession) that is beyond questionable....

His last joke about the race caller and the ladies of the night was a cracker as well.

I can't for the life of me remember the callers name but pretty sure he was calling back when Darren was starting up the caper in Kalgoorlie, Spinking you may remember his name?

A friend went to the Singapore Carbine Club lunch two or three years back and said it was a "men only" affair like the Carbine Club's in Australia of old.

So a blue story would not be out of place!

International races dominated by Hong Kong again but the SKY coverage made it tough to follow. TVN would have shown the whole Singapore race day warts and all.

I don't recall reading any comment (apart from one from a contributor that was quickly deleted) about D Mac that was a personal attack or indeed any form of character assassination. Despite my previous comments on his calling I have previously given him credit as an auctioneer and he is a very good MC and public speaker.

what would they know. IF it were true, private negotiations would be taking place.

maybe they read the Viva Pataca thread. Macca was offered a job in HK when he was only a young fella, not sure if he knocked it back or he thought he was too young at the time

If Mark Shean does pop up in Hong Kong, we’re tipping it will be with an Escape Clause attached to his contract in case he wishes to bail if unable to work with whoever calls the shots when it comes to all things broadcasting. And if he bails, then what? We’d possibly look at snapping up the excellent WA caller Darren McCaulay- if he, like anyone else new to Hong Kong is willing to first accept the city’s cramped living conditions, and then put up with the somewhat “sparse” and goofy production gaffes that can make the best talent look like amateurs.

The latest from racing B*tch is that Shean is not going to HK so position is still a ?

I don't blame him, it would be like living in a cage...talk about living in each others pockets.
everybody knows everybodys business.....the jocks cop it because of the huge money involved.
it'd be like living on a reservation.

6PR Rumour File eh? D Mac didn't comment so perhaps there are negotiations Falcon. He may get a financial offer very difficult to refuse.
