=))=))=))=))=)) greatest spectacle ever in racing anywhere in the world and no one can see it cos the races vision isn't available, unless you pay for it!!!!!
Only in WA would that happen.....was there any mention of hand timing in the stewards report? =))=))=))=))
yes but they treat their paying customers like ****. unfortunately they keep getting paid regardless.
actaully i just thought of the reason why they are so slow with the stewards they probably have to get the reports signed off by sydney stewards first. i forgot that they can't see things themselves.
IMO there is a real attitude problem at RWWA as a workplace......terrible for the staff, as they have no where to hide. Lots going on and its all hard...imagine a work place that has PR on one side and The GOVERNMENT machine on the other....throw in a tough retail market - Ozbet, and the chance of losing the big cash cow they have had for a lifetime...
No excuses, but IMO i don't think I'd be doing a staff morale survey at the moment.....and customer service has never been a strong point of RWWA, even when the pressure was off...
RWWA have more than one issue. Having recently tried to have a discussion about a Tender I just laughed at the arrogance and stupidity of what I was trying to have shoved down my throat as the rules.

"Having recently tried to have a discussion about a Tender I just laughed at the arrogance and stupidity of what I was trying to have shoved down my throat as the rules."
So what exactly was the discussion about?
I wanted to know why they felt the need to Tender for Photographic Services, for off course promotional work using black and white as the mainstay. The thrust of the brief is to portray the Industry across the three codes in a favorable light. They said they want to exhibit, they also want to produce a coffee table book, as well as billboard poster size work.
So even though they have a website and Twitter, they say that they can only advertise in print. That means nobody who doesn't buy a hard copy of The West Australian gets a chance to see the Tender being advertised. Personally I haven't bought a newspaper in several years as they are online, but if you want to stick to a rule made in the late 70's, you should prepare yourself for folks saying when, why, where was it advertised.
But that is not the real problem. Everything that they ask for in their Tender, has been offered over the last two years. Everything.
The rules attached to anyone successfully tendering, would be to exclusively and without a conflict of interest, supply work for RWWA. So that would mean in my case, shutting down everything that I have done for several years, just to do what I have been doing for several years, as they haven't asked for anything new.
Then I was told that I could not discuss any of the above with any member of staff at RWWA during the Tender process. But more so, an attempt was made to gag me even though I wasn't tendering. The entire reason I contacted them was to ask why ? How about coming up with fresh ideas I asked. Even that I was told was not allowed under the rules of the tender because you were not allowed to contact the marketing person who must have spent sometime surfing the web before they had their light bulb moment.
It is hard enough to come up with fresh content. From a photography standpoint, it is well documented that photo's are stolen, creative ideas are pinched and usually with little reference to the creator. It is the age in which we live, with social media being a hungry animal demanding content.
So my call was my attempt at trying to protect my work. Ask any of the participants how much I charged for the work. Trainers, riders, vets, owners. ask any of them. Ask Northam how much I charged for several months of preparation for the work I did 18 months ago at the Club.

I agree.
From what I have seen, plenty of others have been doing what you have been doing for many a year.
I thought Damien's photos of 3 - 4 years ago breathed a heap of life back into the angles that you can photograph racing horses and the people who watch and participate in racing horses. I had never seen those angle used before. I probably had never gone looking for them either, but they had never been produced and presented in the manner to which Damien had done so, on here and on Facebook. I'm not aware of too many photographers having to take pictures from outside the racing precinct, and therefore I just assumed that no-on had used the angles and contrast that Damien had.
On the other foot I'm not at all surprised that RWWA wanted to adopt a similar book of work to reflect and capture for eternity the essence of racing in WA at this time.. It's a shame - in my opinion - that Damo didn't have a serious look at the contract and try to negotiate an agreeable outcome with RWWA as the result of their endless pit of our money and Damo's great angles it probably would have been a good book to have.

Not sure mentioning it has anything to do with whether you should get it or not.

It's the last thing I ever expected from RWWA.
You just don't strike me with your continual commentary as being a humble person.
one in every crowd.. if your unlucky two in some.
