I know of one punter who also read the play and had a good result on the race but is appalled that this type of team driving and lead organisation is allowed to go unchecked.
What you are saying is spot on and all i'm asking for, the stewards are in the best position to judge so gatjer all the information and go from there. From what I heard on the radio though the only investigation taking place is asking the question of Mr Hall and noting his comments. I'm sure I've heard the the stewards say they have the ability to obtain betting records from anyone betting on the local product so instead of just saying it do it. It may have just been some punter taking what was good overs and Jones may have honestly just thought her best chance was with a sit but if you have the power to check that then why not do it? Like I said all you want is an even playing field. I'm more worried about any bet I was to have in the future, can I rely on things to be run truely? 90% of the time I feel I can but it's that 10% that we all remember.
The point is - there is a major difference between "losing" and "losing unfairly"!!!
Like I said I don't want blood, I just want a decent look into it so I can have the confidence to bet in the future. It's all about perception, everything may be well and truely above board but if you get the slightest feeling that maybe it's not and those in charge don't look into it then how can you have any confidence?
Anyhow I don't want to waste any more time on it, I don't want to say anything against the Hall's because by and large I think they are wonderfully forth coming with the time that they provide to things like racing radio, they give out plenty of infoation for the punter and they do a wonderful job with their horses. it isn't their fault they are so dominant. Those that have the power to investigate though and prove everything in the game is above board need to do everything in their power to do so, it was predictable on friday night that nothing will come of it and nothing has.

Stewards Advise Race 3 GP 29th Aug Hall stable hope to find forward spots with N1 The Ragpickers Dream & N3 Dashing Christian @HarnessStewards"
Stewards Report:
"Stewards spoke to Trainer Gary Hall Snr in regard to the tactics he adopted on THE RAGPICKERS DREAM NZ (Lauren Jones) and DASHING CHRISTIAN NZ (Robbie Williams). Mr Hall Snr reiterated information given to the Stewards prior to the race meeting that THE RAGPICKERS DREAM NZ although drawn Barrier 1 would not necessarily lead and he hoped for both runners to find forward positions. This information was tweeted to the public on Thursday prior to the race meeting."
The information that Ragpickers Dream would not necessarily lead was certainly not made available to the public.
Not every punter has access to Corporate Bookmaker fixed odds markets or Betfair price movements before they have a bet and at least $12k was placed for a win on the tote on Supertab on Ragpickers Dream without fixed odds betting and other TABs being taken into account. So conservatively $40k could have been bet on Ragpickers Dream nationally without considering exotic bets anchoring it as the likely leader and winner.
The question remains were those punters given a fair go.
Nothing to see here everything is rosy in paradise so lets all move on.
Again it's all about perception, if someone is in possesion of that valuable information and then doesn't pass it all on then you leave yourself wide open when somebody pulls off a good betting move where that missing information would be mighty helpful. Either way it's a blunder that can only lead to a loss of confidence.

If G Hall Snr did in fact say that " THE RAGPICKERS
DREAM NZ although drawn Barrier 1 would not necessarily lead" than I
believe well informed punters like Gilgamesh may indeed have read the
race a tad differently. In my mind, this would be a steward error. One of the problems with tweeting is the temptation to paraphrase.
Similarly, If G Hall Snr did in fact say this to the stewards, then I'm not sure anyone can go gunning for him and accuse him of slowly ruining the industry (in this instance).
It is the stewards I have an issue with, tweeting out both horses will look for a forward position and then after the race in the stewards report saying you were actually told the horse drawn one is not necessarily going to lead are so far seperated, if you recieve that information you have to get it out there.
They've allowed a perception to get out there that something might not be above board, whether it's right or it's wrong it is their job to stamp anything like this from ever being thought, show that everything is homkey dorey, bet here punters because you know you are going to get all the informtion you need and a fair run for your money. Whan that feeling is not there you are in trouble.
If they are fairdinkum they should have, with the Hall's, The Padbergs and team Bond regularly having more than 1 runner in a race they almost need to come out with a pre race stewards report now. It was said earlier it is very hard for trainers to actually pick the run their horse will get because they aren't machines and things go wrong. In the case were trainers have multiple runners it would be good to get some kind of thoughts of how the trainer thinks their horse might go in the run just to take any of that percieved team driving out of it. That way if someone thinks something is a bit strange you have hard evidence to go back to and go we'll actually the trainer thought that was a chance of happening prior to the race.
I know to some that may sound like a disadvantage having to spill your tactics prior to the race but if it going to help keep on good ground the perception of your sport then maybe it's something you have to look at.
I feel very much like you. I had a bet at Menangle on the 23/8/14 on a favourite and the driver put the horse 3 back the fence and it was hard held all the way up the straight. There is an inquiry pending but I, like you, am losing confidence/faith with the stewards. You are a great form analyst (I only wish I would have backed some of your selections!!!). Have a look at the last race at Ballarat harness last night for the drive on Narra Operative!!

"Trainer to face stewards over post-race comments

Disciplinary Board on a charge of making comments prejudicial to the
image of racing.
Racing Victoria stewards issued the charge on Wednesday after
assessing comments the trainer made in an interview on racing channel
TVN after winning the Mildura Cup with Flyingconi on August 24.
Eden had two runners in the race, with Rambert leading into the
straight before weakening to finish 11th while stablemate Flyingconi
came from back in the field to win. Eden admitted in a post-race
interview with TVN’s Kevin Casey that Rambert had needed the run and
“took one for the team”.
‘It’s no secret Flyingconi needs the tempo on and a firm track really suited,” he told TVN.
Eden will front the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board, at a date
to be fixed, after stewards charged him yesterday after again speaking
to him at the Sandown races. Deputy chairman of stewards Robert Cram
said his commente were prejudicial to the image, interest and welfare of
racing."
