I thought the new cricket curator was going to fix the pitch?. Try riding on a heavy 10 in NZ.

Perth Racing still haven't released a full account of today. The best they can do is this:

2pm. No mention of abandonment on PR site or RWWA thoroughbreds Twitter.

    Is on Facebook page

And states due to conditions and surface water.
    Not the track at all.
    The carpark?

"due to the surface water on specific areas of the track"
So it sems they had a few puddles - obviously the drainage is no longer working properly. More than likely roots of grass have overtaken and the track needs some major overhauling.

*-:) :-? On Friday why not get on the :)] to the boys down at the WACA and borrow the super soaker they use to dry the wicket out.

Couple of runs over the puddles with that beast and she would be all good <:-P

Far be it for me to defend anything Perth Racing or RWWA do as they both excel in one area, employing completely unaccountable incompetents particularly amongst some of their high ranking officials and no doubt more should be spent on the track to get it right no doubt but Belmont and Ascot regularly host two meetings each week fur six months at a time.
Name one metro track in the east that does that, guess what you can't because they don't, Randwick can't seem to cope with any traffic and they 've spent zillions on it and Kensington, today was a complete and utter disgrace, so it's no better in the east where they've also had all sort of problems with Sandown after spending a squillion on it.

There is a very simple solution to the dual problems of small race fields and track wear and tear, have less race meeting  and you will soon get better quality and fuller fields but no one wants to go down this path because they're addicted to TAB turnover to survive and the tab's are only interested in keeping hapless punters in a punting frenzy through wall to wall racing.

With less race meeting you won't have to distribute stakes as far so the average stakes will also increase and pool sizes will be much larger due to the better standard of racing.

Quality not quantity but to the TAB's and their management that is a sacrilegious statement.

Andrew,as a racehorse owner have you not seen the nominations pinjarra gets.sometimes 50 horses nominated for a race and only 10 starters so thats up to 40 horses that are set for a race that have to find another race.so disagree about less meetings.

Maybe RWWA can grab some of the '28' parrots that are ripping my front lawn to shreds as we speak, ripping it out for seeds and drainage doesn't seem to be a drama :-))

your announcement got lost pm, perhaps it needs to be elsewhere.
it will be interesting to see how long this one takes in comparison to the one that has been going since the beginning of time and with no end in sight.

sorry joffa but I have no interest in betting on slow lesser class horses going around in the same shocking races week in and week out.

you are right about that there are way too many crabs in training at the moment and too many dumb owners who do not know when to cut their losses and retire crabs , these owners are mesmurised by the spiel from trainers who are only interested in getting a monthly cheque from dumb owners

A quote from the book THE SURE THING.......

Training is less about horsemanship and more about salesmanship... selling horses to a gullible public. Racehorse ownership should come with a government warning: Racehorse ownership can seriously harm your health.

I would add bank balance to that.

Another quote from the same book...

Owners with few exceptions are simply subsidising the bookmakers (and TABs) with free or remarkably cheap sport for them to lay odds and reap their not inconsiderable rewards.

And sometimes people want to have a few shares in a few horses as a hobby, enjoy going to the races, get involved, couple of beers, have a punt, tipping comp etc etc

Aussie if you enjoy betting on crap country and even some midweek races with little to no form of any substance and horses with no will to win that's your prerogative it certainly isn't mine.
A classic example of that was Belmont midweek last week the fields were of such a poor standard I didn't even bother doing the form on a single race because apart from the 2yo winner they were all mutants and had zero interest in having a bet, so much so that I didn't even bother watching a single race on the day.

Sounds a bit like your football team Andrew; no form or substance and no will to win.

Can't address years of skill deficiencies which were never corrected or even acknowledged by the previous regime overnight mate. Possessing the ability to at least hit the broadside of a barn when kicking into the forward 50 would be a good starting point.
