Was just looking at his SP for his previous runs. $1.65 on debut then never more than $1.30 since.

Will be good to see him return.

What price in the Winterbottom ?

Depends what comes if that filly of Keith Biggs comes  Sea Siren  well he might [Barakey] start 2nd fav or equal as she is a class act beating buffering twice over the Brizzy winter ,market will probably come out in the next 3-4 weeks i would have thought

Barakey would definitely start a shorter price than sea siren

Looks like hallowell belle is making the journey also for the winterbottom

Well performed Eastern States horses rarely end up making the trip across to WA. Every year the names start getting trotted out in an effort to build up publicity for the race or The Railway Stakes. The only hope this year may be in the fact that a couple of them are owned by local identities.

But I am not holding my breath.

Hope Barakey holds up for a full campaign, he'll be good for racing in this state over the spring. That powerful pounding action of his does worry me though.

Stop getting in the stall with him Rad and you wont get powerfully pounded so much!!!!!

The Belmont track has been on it's best behaviour this season i reckon with a few Dead 4's and 5's. I just hope that transfers over to Ascot, and they aren't aiming it to run fast/good all season. These continual rain periods nearly every week have got to be keeping the tracks in better condition.. So it may be easier for the track staff to keep a bit of give in the track this summer...MAYBE!!!!

I reckon if you can get anywhere near $2..GET ON..

??? WTF so let me get this right Sea Siren has won gr-1s in QLD over probably the 2nd best sprinter in Aust in Buffering and the other bloke has won a Notham sprint ?? i dont get it

Agree Dungy! I rest my case as far punting goes, if you back a horse, Barakey on what hes done, over Sea siren on her race record, you deserve to lose at the punt. Please dont whinge when you lose :-\"

Form doesn't mean everything when you assess markets. I would assume sea siren will be going into it either first up, third up off two other 1200m runs or 2nd up after a freshen up, whilst barakey will be prepared perfectly for it.Either way i would imagine barakey would get the tick for being better prepared for the race.

Barakey is the boom local horse(local chances are inevitably very well found in the market) and was pre-post favourite for the newmarket this year wasn't he? Sea siren, although popular doesn't really have the same boom, shes good but she was also suited in her races last prep as she was able to map perfectly each start and i thought O'shea beat the handicapper to a degree.

It isn't sea sirens ideal distance and the market generally isn't trusting of mares first up because they can't always perform like they do in their breakout year.

I'm not trying to debate who would win the race, simply who would start favourite IMO.

Actual probability is irrelevant to the debate, Barakey WOULD be favourite.

So Barakey is not a Group horse ? That will be rectified shortly.

Regardless of price... when will Barakey's first loss be? This Saturday, Colonel Reeves, Winterbottom?

    $1.18 Barakey.

I know it's good but giving 4.5kg's to Right Time will make this race closer than people expect. I'm tipping an upset.
  • TheDivaTheDiva    13,248 posts
Barakey vs The Entourage also 7.5kg difference between the only time they met (2 length margin last year)

If he's anywhere near a Winterbottom horse, he'll be towelling up this field though...none of these will even make the cut.

I know he trialled without blinkers and I'm sure he'll be a lot sharper on raceday but after watching the trial I didn't think it was overly flash on face value but then again you know that Jimmy wouldn't produce him if he wasn't happy with him.
I'm happy to just sit back and cheer for him at the $1.20 that is currently on offer as there's far better value than that on the card.

Let me see, Barakey at $1.20 who has won all 8 of his starts while working his way through the grades & giving seasoned horses 5kg.
Or Pierro at $1.25, who has also won 8 starts. All at stakes levels and on set weights this weekend.

    Decisions Decisions!!! Dah!

Odds on look on but will watch with interest he will walk in weight wont matter over 5 furlongs

The decision is not to back Pierro but which bookie to bet with. Luxbet offer a free bet up to $200 if you back the winner of any group 1 race. The guineas is one such race, so load up, take the short quote and unlock a free bet.
