racing cliches we love/hate

West Australian Racing

Certain new cliches just drive me nuts of late -- I hate the stupid use of "grand final" in interviews with racing people. For example "is this your grand final?' -- what the bloody hell is that. Grand finals are in football not horseracing---what next? how did the ''preseason'' go with your horse?

the other new one that sends me nuts is "this horse ticks all the boxes''...

    "like"

If I hear a teenage girl use it more than 15 times per minute I think it is justifiable homicide

For the past 15 years the most overused word has been 'Absolutely'

Has it always annoyed me? INDUBITABLY

Even more annoying for me is the misuse of 'literally'. And now it has graced PTT. From the home page:

Joe Azzopardi : Literally a track burner after his dashing ride on Abmberlyn at Geraldton on Sunday. A kid who has a future.

Not literally. He doesn't actually set fire to race tracks.
