    Bit hard to get of one you own isnt it ,it won well last start upto 1700m should suit no doubt Lindsays horse will be short won its maiden well and is looking for the trip also

    ???? were waiting ???? its a good little race the 1st isnt it Belltorio,Benny Pearce horse looks a chance also bookies should sqaure up on this card looks a hard day plus some rain expected wont be like saturday thats for sure

    looking forward to the rail at 18M for the photo's, only a few weeks left and I am back at Ascot and banished to the 600M point being the closest I get to the finish line

    I was talking to a Jockey at Belmont Trials the other day about the starting times for our race meetings, and once again I'm wondering what the light conditions will be like at 5.08 PM for the final race based on the silly start time of 12.43 PM for race 1.

    If for instance there was a lengthy delay and the races had to be put back one race they would be in genuine darkness.

    Is this even a consideration or just WA being dictated to by Eastern States TV programmers ?

    Sunset in Sydney today..5.55pm.........last race 5.21pm
    Sunset in Brisbane today.5.46pm........last race 5.08pm

    Perth starts at 12.43pm. The earliest start of the eastern states (Vic, NSW and QLD) is 1.18pm. I don't think it's a silly time to start. Relative to local time, Perth has the earliest start of the lot. They also are scheduled to finish more than an hour before sunset. I think you're barking up the wrong tree on this occasion.

    WA also has the longest sunset on any capital city granted our sun goes down over the ocean and not mountain ranges

    I won't be there for the last 5 races as I have some parental resonsibilities, however, in recent times I have had to adjust by up to 6 f stops on the camera due to poor light with late finishes. Perhaps the Eastern States have it even more wrong than Perth today, but with so much storm activity in recent weeks and days, starting at 12.43 PM is just a waste of an hour of great daylight when the sun is high in the sky.

    This comment came out of a discussion regarding that torrential rain storm during race 6 last Wednesday, when I am told that most jockeys weighed in very heavy due to excess soaking. Vision during that storm was less than 200M, and whilst it is a differant circumstance to what I have suggested, should something like this occur again with a late start, then good luck on anyone seeing anything.

    During the final race today, I expect that nearby traffic on the Graham Farmer Freeway will be wizzing past with headlights on.
