The only interest I have in this is how teams will there be in 2010. Surely 16 is enough but would be interesting to see what everybody else thinks.

I think the AFL are a bunch of tossers for giving the club only a short time to make up their minds. The offer should have been on the table at the beginning of last season for a decision by the end of the season. Then all the due diligence could have been attended to.
As it stands, we have had to make a hasty decision in a short period of time (of course we went for the conservative option). I fear we have just committed to being beaten to death with a pillow (a very slow death).
From a personal viewpoint, I wouldnt like to see them leave melbourne because the club "is" melbourne and I dont think i would fly to the gold coast to watch them play. My pilgrimage will always be to melbourne to watch the footy.
Financially tho, I think the gold coast was the way to go as we probably wont be around in another 5 years.
I can see where the vote was coming from.....who still thinks of Brisbane as Fitzroy...........no one I bet.

Agree AFL are trying to hold a gun at Kangaroo's head, and want them playing up at a base that is not upto AFL standard. You could never think that Brisbane is Fitzroy as that was a takeover not a merge, read Dyson Hore-Laceys book on the demise of Fitzroy, it may be a bit biased, but the AFL are a mob of c**ts on the way the shelfed Fitroy who were trying to do a deal with North. Demitriou is as low as Oakley, so watch out Kangaroos, the rug will be pulled out from underneath you at some stage, and don't expect any support from out of Victorian clubs. I think Brayshaw made the only decision that he and the club could really make, it took some guts, but it could still come back to haunt them, but other than that they would have layed down and taken it from behind by the AFL.

if jimbob reckons he can turn our team around, he has my full support, they have done the right thing staying in melbourne as I think we would get even less members if we were to move to the gold coast, and i love the idea of changing our name back to north melbourne

Brayshaw is heading the same way as Eddie here.. Is highly involved in the media (AFL side of things) & is now highly involved with an AFL football club. IMO the two don't mix..

Why? Eddie has been awesome for Collingwood AND footy in general. All coaches, presidents and players are involved in the media in varying degrees. The 2 are an essential mix...IMO

Of course they are going to be involved in the media in some way.. And i dont see a problem with this.. Im talking about being involved to much. I really don't think it did Eddie many favours when he was so heavily involved with the media for example hosting the AFL footy show and commentating AFL games..

Brayshaw is host of the footy show, is a commentator of the AFL and is mixed in with the radio.. Unless this changes he will be in the exact same boat as Eddie once was and i dont think this is fair on other clubs..

Southport is the key to success for the expansion. What ever structure ends up there, it needs to involve Southport to be a success.
After the success of the Port Adelaide expansion compared to the Fremantle one, the AFL will be wise that that is the best model to follow.
Southport already ranks with the most wealthy clubs in the land. They also control the most appropriate venue available to a GC AFL team.
If Kangaroos don't move the AFL will offer a licence to Southport and the Kangaroos will then either merge with them (SP Kangaroos being the AFL team and SP Sharks the QFL team) or Kangaroos will have to merge with another Melbourne team, or just cease to exist once the AFL redirects their $4m a year handout to Southport.

just on the whole eagles drug thing, well not really on that, but just on the focus coming away from that:

What do we think about the Kanga boys getting in a punch up at.............wait for it..................the Lionel Ritchie concert.

Personally I cant believe it myself. Must have misreported. How could you get in a punch up at Lionel Ritchie?

If it did happen, its a bit disappointing from my viewpoint as we have such a disciplined team as a whole.

Edwards = ex-eagle drug tool, singing along to 'It started with a kiss' deserved a punch in the mouth

Not being pickey here but "It started with a kiss" is a Hot Chocolate song  Now, "Three Times A Lady" is a different story, a Kanga singing along to that would deserve a slap  Apparently they know all the words !
