What has Mobile racing done world wide to make our industry grow and become better?.
more predictable outcomes at the start of the races, the last thing I want as a punter or as a participant is having the outcome of my bet or horse i train/own determined by one man's ability to release them correctly and fairly, i mean there is a reason standing starts have been phased out over time
Typical trotting - they are very reluctant to give financial numbers - except NSW of cpourse - said it was a $1.5 million loss and turnover decreased by $111 million
Further to that - NSW said YTD so far in 25 financial year ( at the time of the 24 report being re;leased ) turnover for 25 year was down another 11% and they are now budgetting for a nearly 7 million loss in the 25 year .
The said a deficit of that magnitude can be managed because of their financial mgt the prior 4 years - and that they still have 38 million in the kitty - future fund etc. But you wouldnt want to have too many 7 million annual dollar losses otherwise that 38 million will evaporate pretty quickly
At least NSW put the hard actual numbers on the table - they were the only ones - Victoria said they had severe financial headwinds and that was about it from the other states
Good luck getting or sighting a Profit and Loss Statement and Balance Sheet from WA Trotting
Just watched the 10 replays at AP - big night of course alot of feature racing - and just outstanding harness racing , and that is why i got hooked on trotting from a very young age
Of course AP is a 1st class track and allows harness racing to be showcased at its brilliant best , perfect example Pete McMullens drive on Gus in the Square Gaitors- the move at the bell to get the lead - well at GP the track is too tight you just cant do that
Not being critical of the WA Participants or the horses re the standard of WA Harness racing - but if you have a rubbish track like GP then you will have a rubbish product
There is that other WA Trotting forum i did read a litt;le bit of it - but it was just the same theme over and over - eveyone was a great person , everyone was a top trainer , everyone was a top driver and of course no one ever broke any rules
What id love the one in charge of that other forum to do is say right there is over 100 of us on this forum - we all love Trotting , ok the most important point re WA Trotting , is keeping an 800 metre track and spending a small fortune on doing that , I want everyones views on that , and that if that happened ( apart from being sensational reading ) it might just put a little bit of public pressure on the ones in charge to make the obvious correct decisions for the betterment of WA Harness Racing going forward
And that isnt keeping an 800 metre track and pisssing away $25 million of precious industry funds doing it
Queensland leading the way in my opinion as to how to wright a sinking ship, they showed that stripping the product back, rebranding and rebuilding is the only way forward in this current climate , provided a bunch of stat's and figures a few years back proving this , but was shot down and labelled autistic by one prominent poster on this forum, proving that harness racing in WA will continue to grow stale if we dont evolve and continue to live in the past like some people would much rather do
Queensland harness racing going along swimmingly down 12.1% on turnover last year as per the annual report.
1 year doesn't dictate the direction a product is heading surely being the businessman you are youd understand that warren, how does Queensland line up turnover wise against the other states in the past 5 years ? Im sure that stat will paint a different picture , as did all the other stat's i provided a few years back, back in the day of "stat's and figures dont lie......unless they go against what I want "
I was asking what the "other" WA forum was called.
If you google " WA interdominion and Harness Racing Legends - Facebook "
Bob Pollocks son runs it
Yes there is some interesting stuff , but ive stopped reading it , because its just self indulging patting everyone on the back , they are all great in all aspects , as people - as trainers - as drivers as owners
Like on the PTT forum i put up the article on Jim Schrader from the 1977 harness horse magazine - its listed the good - all his achievements which there were plenty - but it also listed the not so good , like being suspended and missing 5 out of 6 Summer Carnivals and why was that because he was a rough driver . I saw the great FRK give Schrader , Mick Malthouse type sprays after a few feature races because of the interference he copped
Now that Facebook forum if they were discussing Jim Schrader , oh wasnt he fantastic blah blah - no matter who they are discussing it is just so one sided , all the lovey dovey good stuff and they all give it likes - thats why i stopped reading it
Queensland,2 years certainly dictates how a business is running, y/ending 24, down 8.2% followed by the -12.1%, let's hope the tide returns this year with the Inter Doms, World Drivers Championships etc.

2 years is a tiny sample size when your talking an industry this big

Nothing, but no point turning to the past in order to find a solution for the future , harness racing biggest issue is its inability to evolve
