Didn't actually see any of it or how far into the race the incident actually took place , but if someone's broken a rein its a bit of a safety issue out there so I don't think there's any real issue with drivers pulling up so that the situation is made safe
Majority of the drivers that decided to pull up instantly didn’t even need to. They weren’t in any harms way. They took matters into their own hands. Could have continued in the race and waited for the stewards to sound the no race siren. As it turned out the race could have been run in its entirely. I would be furious if I was de campo or the connections of the winner.
Tough one I mean end of the day can't really blame drivers on erring on the side of caution , there would be an absolute uproar if the race continued and something did happen and a horse and/or a driver were to get hurt
Watched the race live ,Deni Roberts lost use of rein ,no doubt would of been in a bit of a panic,3 drivers put their hand up to alert the catchers that their assistance was required.
Other drivers close to the incident, could see that this could be a very dangerous situation and got out of the way.
Fortunately,Deni;s horse with no steering ran down onto Shannons horse locking wheels with it,this was a blessing in disguise as it then was anchored to shannons horse who was able to restrain his horse thus slowing Deni's horse down until the catcher came on the scene.
In hindsight yes the race could of continued, but hindsight is not in real time and think the drivers at that particular time made the right decision.
