With the new dress code at midweek Belmont, due to "increased exposure"
You can't enter the mounting yard wearing jeans or shorts, why is it barrier attendants are allowed to wear shorts, when they too are being broadcasted internationally,

Is it a case of double standards?

Who gives a flying **** what people in Singapore think about our attire, I thought the idea was to encourage people to come to the track not further discourage them, absolutely staggering the level of mindless stupidity and the sheer pigheadness and superiorty complex of those in charge at the Turf Club beggars belief, it's a midweek meeting for christ sake.

but on Saturday a female strapper was allowed in wearing 3/4 legins???? as with everything PR does, they regularly don't apply them consistently

Only mentioned it because a couple of weeks ago I was told I wasn't allowed into the mounting yard because jeans are not suitable attire, needless to say I was not impressed, then today I was watching a couple of races and saw barrier attendants wearing shorts, I said to my self "those pricks, I'm not allowed jeans but they can go in boardies".... Was a fair bit more vulgar than that to be honest =)) the missus wasn't terribly impressed with my language this afternoon

You'd think PR has more important things to worry about.
But I guess you eat a whale one bite at a time....

I saw a trainers daughter lead a sat. winner in, dressed in skin tight jeans......
admittedly she looked great but she was in jeans....double standards....I think so.
same as having tucked in shirts in the members over summer.....its the current style boys..get with it.

So maybe I should borrow a pair of the missus's mumblers, and show off my moose knuckle next time, maybe they will approve of that ;)

What is so hard about putting on a pair of strides and a decent shirt if your serious about winning a race? Things Perth people cant do - merge in traffic, make a political decision, dress themselves.

    ^^ missed my point
They expect owners, trainers, members and stable hands/ strappers to adhere to their dress code yet their employees don't have to?

Mate if you a own a horse pay up for  it and support racing in this manner and don't turn up in thongs and a shirt full of holes  you should be able to wear whatever the hell you like, I wouldn't care if owners wore boardshorts in the middle of summer, we live in Australia not England, surely the Turf Club has far more pressing issues than what owners wear.

Dodge there are a plethora of issues of more importance, granted, but it has always stuck in my craw why anyone woud wish to represent themselves/connections/racing looking like a bag of sh1t, i dont care where you live.

I mean really it was a midweek "metro" meeting which in my opinion in quality is no better than say, a Gosford or Sunshine Coast or at very best a weak Geelong meeting,
Why can't they just state clean, neat attire to be worn, enclosed shoes, collared shirt & no shorts, to me wearing what they deem appropriate attire would be like wearing a tuxedo to a collie meeting.

I don't go anywhere looking like a scab,
Racing is not just a game for the "well to do" or "fat cats", there are a lot of battlers in this industry, now I'm not loaded but I'm not busted arsed either, I have 2 horses that are in work and paid up and I breed a few mares, why should "average joe" have to appear to be somebody he is not, if he is not comfortable to do so.

Quality is as quality does. Youve defined our state of racing by your first line.
I myself am neither a battler, nor a well to do

What i do appreciate is the effort, respect and tradition that racing was, and may well still be, if people would make half an effort.
Had one in today too - was dressed accordingly.

Allowing people to be interviewed post race does more harm than what they wear.

Never had a problem on a Wednesday in jeans, including yesterday.
Weekend you need to dress to a higher standard.
I don't see a problem with it at present.

Surely the major problem that faces the Turf Club is getting people to attend on track.

I have a few pairs of jeans that are worth more than some of the suits that get around at the races.

I take extreme pride in how I dress myself, and how I look, but I can't remember the last time I wore a suit. Does that make me under dressed, or not up to standard? I think not, and the success rate with the jam tarts is proof to my argument.
