i cannot fathom the reason for the sale. its a cash cow for the govt. so why kill the golden goose.
its not as though we are broke, macca will just chuck the billion in with the rest of the dosh and hoard it like some scrooge.

Other than his involvement in the Melbourne Storm that I know of(super successful that joint)what businesses has he churned/burned? Name just isn't ringing any immediate bells for me...

apparently Jake Paul owns this company, so they're trying to overtake SportsBet, TAB, etc
Most on here won’t know who he is, a quick YouTube search will tell you he’s a young rich entrepreneur, gaming, professional boxing, sports betting and all the rest he’s involved in

Yank influencer come boxer..oh well fair game plenty of backing by ex and current NFL players too.
I assume the Australian arm is separate or a "division" because the American flavour references micro betting but i didn't read much further.
I'll research the Aussie website tomorrow, ex racing.com fella Matt Campbell is involved I believe(pretty sure he is pals with Tripp and definitely is a Storm supporter)and maybe Julian Valance is too..actually not sure on the latter Valance he may have gone to James Jordan's service? lol

Matt Tripp has the raw ability to rub noses with you at the same time remove your shoelaces.

Matt Tripp brought sportsbet for 250,000 in 2005 then sold six years later for 338 million  to Paddy Power Betfair..now (Flutter). part in 2009 and 2011

Son of Alan Tripp  who was the prime target  of gaming and vice squads around the country. in the 80s. operated out of Vanuatu was alleged to be a  Tax haven.

Haven't read his book but its called  Beating The odds.

It's owned by NewsCorp and https://www.tekkorp.com/ driven by USA Based Aussie Matt Davey who is CIO.  Matt is the weight behind Betmakers.  If JP 'owns' Betr it would be via investing in the Tekkorp VC fund units.

Looking forwrd to racing at Betr Park in the Maiden Betr is Better handicap and then heading to the Betr bar to drink Better Beer.

Racing wont benefit but WA will get a new maternity hospital and Mark will be crowned champion of the people for saving them from gambling destitution, ...um... until they realise....

Best thing for longevity would've been to wrap RWWA into Lotterywest - hong kong style... But they've f#cked it.... too far gawn,

with these questionable people with shady pasts looking to get the TAB, it may be time for the adjudicators to take a few very long looks at the whole sorry mess.
tripp might pull another sportsbet deal...money is his God.

As has been said previously none.  But the reality is a state government has no business running a gambling operation.  End of story, this should have happened years ago.  And if you bring up lotto, I would say the same thing for that as well

Given the corrupt fiasco that has accompanied Crown & Star Organisations (only a fool would entertain that it begins & ends there) the argument could equally be made that stringent government oversight in the gambling domain is precisely what is required to bring the shonks under control..

I’m assuming it’s the same company - Backed by a $50M financing round that includes investments from a fleet of venture capital funds and current and former NFL players Ezekiel Elliott, Richard Sherman, Dez Bryant, DeSean Jackson and Braxton Berrios, “Betr” will launch nationally as a free-to-play site, with plans to begin taking bets in states as it secures licenses. The site will use technology from Simplebet, which relies on machine learning to quickly set odds on events such as the next pitch in a baseball game or outcome of a play in football. Simplebet, which licenses its software to sportsbooks including DraftKings, also is a minority investor. Levy will serve as Betr CEO. Paul, who boasts 70 million social media followers and has made waves as a celebrity boxer, will be President.

Their Also offering $101 to pick the AFL and NRL premier next year, NBA too for whenever that starts idk and the Soccer World Cup next month(i'll be backing Brazil).
Not sure when these offers close.

I signed up, verified, deposited and placed a promo bet on Anamoe all inside a few minutes.I also had a losing bet on Nature Strip(you cat - jokes)

Looks from first couple of visits to be similar to Sportsbet etc but i haven't(and wont)dived into looking for these spot/live bets on single plays bullshit that are mentioned, though they may be there idk...

Am I right in thinking i read somewhere that the new owner of the WA tab has no clauses on funding the industry? I'm sure I've read it somewhere which is why the sale price is now higher.

I can't help but feel that the government are just going to try double dip here. Sell the TAB for Max price then ramp up the point of consumption tax.

Now that may actually just be fools gold as you ramp up that POC Tax and all you are going to do is take little Johny's punting off him that much quicker rather than get more out of him.

Things have changed in last five years. First it was sale money received  65%  was towards building new hospital ---- 35% back to the codes purely for infrastructure only. New tab  owners to fund the codes. price alleged  500-600m

Now price 1billion. one of payment .? how i read it.

Seems  they are going to allow Trackside racing or other forms of simulated racing.

The products will be restricted to licensed  TAB venues  only  and not online.

Rules for simulated races are required to be a minimum of 20 seconds long must be separated by minimum of three minutes.
It is expected that the inclusion of simulated racing will provide benefit to the sale value of TAB

The government has consulted with Crown Perth on the   proposal

Probably  why all outback tracks have been given TAB Status this season   Leinster, Laverton Leonora etc.couldn't see anyone funding them meetings  for no return. Of cause those places have strong  committe's & sponsorship to a decree.

    Anyone try betr?
I set up an account yesterday, still waiting for a bet from R4 Kalgoorlie to be cleared.
Have sat on hold for an hour on the phone no answer, no replies to emails, no response on live chat.
Pretty safe to say it's just another one of those useless small corps.

Turnover is one way to create value, another is customer acquisition. If these guys didn't enter the market prior to the carnival their email database would be less than half of what it could be.
@Uttsy I believe you are now a part of the initial value growth strategy of Betr.

That’s not the point, Government should be out of gambling. By your theory they should owning Pubs and Clubs, without the taxes everyone else pays they’d make squillions.

My withdrawal went in the same as if it was Tabtouch Sportsbet or Ladbrokes who are my usuals...

Bound to be teething problems and i don't doubt there genuine but so far the joint hasn't missed a beat in all my transactions, payouts are as prompt as the others etc.

Should have a referral system I pointed some people their way on an NRL forum lol

Good to hear TS. There were people complaining about waiting 5 days or so and then getting put on hold for 4-5 hours. Like most processes you don't get to iron out the bugs (or know where the bugs are) until you go live.
