Just looked at the noms . Isn’t one of them the rwwa employee that was sacked and probably should’ve gone to gaol one of them?

Everyone deserves a second chance don’t they? One-one podcast is a great service that provides interest in WA racing. The interviews with participants are also much better than what you’ll hear on radio.

And he did exactly that? Your point is invalid.

Stewy Shenton sold $50 worth of drugs on course . He didn’t rip off rwwa and they won’t let him work within the industry. That’s it bye????

Seriously, what trash, if you have a problem with his nomination take it up with RWWA.

He must have been unlucky to get busted on the one time he sold drugs. ????

I looked it up on google and it was heroin he was selling apparently.

If he isn't allowed back, surely there was more than 50 bucks worth of heroin involved.

So one bloke sells something on course. While the other bloke takes thirty odd grand that belongs to the course go figure

    it sure is, vincent.
stewie has been a good mate of mine for years, during his broadcasting days and even now i see him every month or so.
rwwa have treated him very poorly, he did is penance at incredible personal cost. then when a small race club offered him a one off race-calling job rwwa denied him. that really hurt.

whos the bloke who knocked off the 30k?

Opinions differ on matters like this, but for mine, both offences are significant.
If I had to choose which was worse- dealing heroin is worse by far. It kills people, tears apart families.
I guess if you have some sort of connection with Stuart Shenton, of course you'll back him up and say that he didn't do much wrong- it's natural to defend your own. But to those who have lost their loved one at the hands of heroin (which they had to have purchased from someone)- try convincing them that he didn't do much wrong. They got a life sentence...

S Shenton has got F All to do with it.
If someone has stolen 30.0 k off RWWA then he shouldn’t be nominated.
However until someone is prepared to name the so called person then it’s the same as S Shenton.

I wasn’t gonna comment again but can anyone remember Warren Batty . Worked in the industry for decades. Great guy that helped everyone did one thing wrong given the flick never employed in racing again.

Not a mate of the bloke in question or Stuart shenton, just more focused on trying to find winners!
  • thefalconthefalcon    20,495 posts
Warren Batty, did he work for Arthur Waegner? the little bloke with a limp? gee LLT thats a long time ago. i forget what he allegedly did.

i echo Spinking...not for one moment do i condone anything Shenton did...and i've told him in no uncertain terms.

Warren lived opposite the course on Mathieson road in a house which i think belonged to the turf club. He used to have a box on his front verandah with the weights in them for trainers and jocks to come pick up when they were released. In the days before faxes or laptops. Wasnt he a jockey that got injured and thats how he ended up working for them?

Just along the same sort of topic line - but just out of  interest ( and i use to follow the gallops years ago ) but this was many  many years ago - and a very controversial case - and i might have the clubs involved and facts  wrong because it was a hell of along time ago

Might have been the Kalgoorlie Race  Club  - the Secretary/Manager is standing where the horses come back to scale after a race . So he is standing their minding his own business - well attired trousers and coat . And one of the jockeys - might have been the winning jock - put a battery/jigger device in the blokes coat pocket

The Sec/Mgr is in total shock - doesnt know what to do - i cant remember what actually happened from that point - but it resulted in a bombshell case and it went on for years

I think the Sec/Mgr originally got disqualified  for a lengthy period - but later got exonerated on appeal - but it took a hell of  along time for that to happen

And then about a decade  later the same bloke - there was some big Betting drama - he was in the news for that

Who  was that bloke - and have i got my facts sort of right

I'm a little surprised that Julio Santarelli isn't there. He does some outstanding work.
